ParticipantYes, its that time of year again. Post your suspected April Fools Pranks here. Online or offline, lets hear about em.
The ones I’ve seen so far:
GMAIL – Google offers 1000MB of email space. (Suspected Prank, BUT could be true)
SuprNova turns Japanese
AimFilez is closing tommorrow.

KeymasterI’m not sure GMAIL is a prank. This might be a little closer.

ParticipantPerhaps you’d like to apply for an engineering position at the Google Copernicus Center
Quote:quote:Google is interviewing candidates for engineering positions at our lunar hosting and research center, opening late in the spring of 2007. This unique opportunity is available only to highly-qualified individuals who are willing to relocate for an extended period of time, are in top physical condition and are capable of surviving with limited access to such modern conveniences as soy low-fat lattes, The Sopranos and a steady supply of oxygen. The Google Copernicus Hosting Environment and Experiment in Search Engineering (G.C.H.E.E.S.E.) is a fully integrated research, development and technology facility at which Google will be conducting experiments in entropized information filtering, high-density high-delivery hosting (HiDeHiDeHo) and de-oxygenated cubicle dwelling. This center will provide a unique platform from which Google will leapfrog current terrestrial-based technologies and bring information access to new heights of utility.
This is currently being advertised on http://www.google.ca, I guess they figured Canadians would be better suited for G.C.H.E.E.S.E. 😀

, including the RC Gastron, PC HabiCase, and PC Ez-Bake Oven (fits in a standard 5-1/4″ drive bay!). 🙂

Gates insists that the move is necessary. “How many times have you tried to send a backup image of your 500 computer network to yourself via e-mail, only to have it bounce back? Now that won’t be a problem.”
Damn, FINALLY!

A band was supposed to play at my school today and when it was time, the only thing in the stage area was an old dude sitting in a chair with a big poster that said: APRIL FOOL’S

KeymasterMaybe I’m just old, but I didn’t find most of the April Fool’s “jokes” to be very funny. Neowin.net was supposedly going to merge with ActiveWin.com (they’re not). So what? How is that funny? It’s not a joke, it’s a prank, only there is no punch line.
Likewise with Aimfilez closing down and any of a number of lame, supposed jokes.
A good April Fool’s joke should have an element of believability. A successful website claiming that they’re going to shut down? Doesn’t happen. The believability should then be replaced by the element of surprise as the joke is revealed. Most of these lame pranks were more like annoyances.
