Hi
Ok ok ……. I am miffed, I admit it. 😡
I was logged in to arcade and decided on a game of Jewels, and was doing really well for a change! In fact I would have been in second place which is no easy thing to do, so….. all excited at my accomplishment I went to submit my score. I pressed submit score, and it asked me to log in? Thought at the time that’s odd as I already was, but thought best do it, then a page came up ‘you are not authorised to enter this section’ went back, and of course my score was gone!!!
Ahhhhh is all I can say. I know it’s just a game but I wonder if anyone else has had this problem. Remind me to take a screen shot next time 🙁
May 10, 2006 at 10:46 am #144226Eagle_KiwiMemberAha !
I was in Jewels at 13:48 May 9th (Br.Summer Time) and reached a creditable 719295, but – like you – when I clicked SUBMIT Score I was prevented…. and I DID happen to take a screenshot !However, although not “submitted” that score still shows as my personal High Score, so I know I wasn’t dreaming 😉
May 10, 2006 at 1:40 pm #144229williamleeMemberyes happened to me as well playing jewels last night. maybe it is getting tired of being played so much lol.
May 10, 2006 at 9:00 pm #144224MrEggsaladParticipantWell, let me go play quickly then just find out…
*playing in other browser tab*
Ok, I went in and clicked the “Submit Score” at the bottom there and it submitted my score just fine (-1 for not playing 😛 ) So I’m not sure if that is where you clicked Submit Score or not..but it works here for me if I understand.May 10, 2006 at 9:28 pm #144225NessaParticipantWhat i know is that it happens to my friend only when he gets extremely high scores (hasn’t happened to me). So my question is did this occur when all of you had decently enough high scores? This would explain why it didn’t work with you Ryan because you didn’t get a high score (therefore could be a time issue since high scores take a while? Or just doesn’t like very high scores?)
Just had to add this thought.
May 10, 2006 at 11:11 pm #144227Eagle_KiwiMemberI’ve been thinking the same thing, V.
I actually went nin again the next day and TRIED to get a low score (it was very hard 😉 ) but I finished with 11000, and Submitted just fine. But I notice at higher levels (like above level 100 or so) the poor game’s digital scorer really struggles to keep up – I paused once for a toilet break, and on return it was STILL ticking over the score.
So – I wonder if perhaps one should wait until that counter is settled before clicking Submit ?May 10, 2006 at 11:55 pm #144223SpikeMemberEagle_Kiwi wrote:I’ve been thinking the same thing, V.

I could be wrong, but I think that game was independant of the arcade system itself, so it could just have bugs in it that account for what all of you are talking about, and, unfortunately, there’s not much anybody can really do about it.May 31, 2006 at 2:08 pm #144228Eagle_KiwiMemberJust for the record, this other thread seems to show the same can occur in Flash Poker too.
I guess not much anyone can do – assume it’s an “occasional random glitch”, unless/until proven otherwise!
(Though the more case data we can accumulate, the better – perhaps.)May 31, 2006 at 4:05 pm #144219Jeff HesterKeymasterPart of the problem may be related to something called the “session timeout,” especially if you don’t click the “remember me” box when you login to BigBlueBall.
When you login, your session is automatically expired if you don’t visit a new webpage for over 60 minutes. As far as the website is concerned, you’ve left. This is useful for the “who’s online” section on the forum home, but can cause problems in the Arcade…. if your game runs longer than 60 minutes.
I’m not sure what happens in the arcade if you select that “remember me” box when you sign-in. It might help.
We aren’t the only website running an arcade, so I’ll check with the author and see if they’ve come up with a workaround.

If that’s the issue Jeff, we can implement a simple fix with some JavaScript and an IFrame.
June 3, 2007 at 10:18 pm #144221DavidParticipantCan anyone who has experienced this problem verify that it only happened when they had been inactive on the forum for more than 60 minutes?
June 4, 2007 at 3:45 pm #144230Leapy LeoMemberThis does seem to be the case David. It’s only happened to me after particularly extended games of Ron North’s jewels but I’ve never had a problem posting my lower scores.
June 4, 2007 at 10:20 pm #144222DavidParticipantI’ve implemented a fix for this, you should no longer be logged out while playing any game, as long as you have javascript enabled in your browser.
