Hello everyone i’m doing research into IMs for a project I am undertaking. I’d really appreciate it if you could take part in this poll! Thanks

February 11, 2005 at 8:12 pm #114228NettiMemberI think they are if you take the time to use the correct punctuation, and words. Because how different the same sentence could sound if done like this.
whats your problem
Instead of like this
Hun, are you ok? What’s the problem?
I’ve had my own share of those types of conversation.
The tough ones are when you’re trying to be funny, by saying.
nice friend you are, thanks
instead of
Oohhhhhh What a nice friend you are!!!!! Thanks alot you goof. LOL
too many people forget a simple ? or !! and especially an LOL when things are suppose to be funny.
Good luck with your project.

It also happens that sometimes, the terms you use in person-to-person conversations couldn’t be understood by your chatmate and you still have to explain what that term means.
I think you should just think of a way to express yourself clearer in IMs.
