I am awaiting the availability of the new Motorola SLVR cell phone, which is their candy-bar version of the RAZR (SLVR pictures). I checked the Motorola website and it says “Availability: 4th Quarter 2005”, but I have no idea what months the quarters are. Could someone tell me? Thanks

1st: Jan/Feb/Mar
2nd: Apr/May/Jun
3rd: Jul/Aug/Sep
4th: Oct/Nov/DecSeptember 26, 2005 at 2:26 am #130774OreoMemberI believe they might be talking about the fiscal year Someguy…the fiscal year starts July 1st (odd isn’t it?) So it would be like this Jul, Aug, Sept (1st); Oct, Nov, Dec (2nd); Jan, Feb, Mar (3rd); Apr, May, Jun (4th) Looks like you may have to wait until Spring 🙁 THOUGH, we are in fiscal year 2006….so who the heck knows….that’s an odd way of putting things…I wonder if it was translated from another language? BTW…I found a link to a Samsung phone with a 5 Megapixel cam, and some nano bacteria inhibitor thing…looked pretty neat. 🙂

No, princeG is correct, this is how it is for computer hardware, so I wouldn’t see why mobile phones would use the fiscal year.
September 26, 2005 at 2:38 am #130775OreoMemberWhy on God’s Green (and BLUE 😉 ) EARTH would they write something so lame? Even saying “Autumn” “Winter” or something like that covers their behinds if they are late….it just seems an odd thing to do…and since we are in fiscal year 2006 they must mean the regular months…strange though it may seem.
September 26, 2005 at 9:19 am #130781Eagle_KiwiMemberOreo, I believe that these days one should use international-friendly terms.
“4th quarter 2005” is unmistakable worldwide, but terms like “summer 2005” – mean completely different things in different hemispheres.
(Similarly, dates like 2/10/2005 are equally ambiguous – it means either 10th Feb OR 2nd October, depending what country you’re in. The most sensible resolution for THAT one, used increasingly, is yy/mm/dd – 2005/10/2 or 2005/2/10. Refer HERE)
September 26, 2005 at 2:25 pm #130776OreoMemberOhhh…I was thinking narrowly and hemispherically! Terribly sorry about that! But how about something like “Between Oct and Dec 2005” That would be nice and simple…it certainly is difficult to get the point across in our global world these days.
September 26, 2005 at 7:11 pm #130779DrBroccoliParticipantAccording to the Motorola website…
Quote:The Motorola SLVR is expected to be available in Q3 2005. For more information on pricing and product availability in your region, please check with your local Motorola representative.September 26, 2005 at 11:54 pm #130778 -
