MemberI have no idea where I stored the jpg I use for my MSN avatar. Where can I find it on my computer? Or is it stored on MSN network?

MemberYou should be able to find all of your images for MSN in MSN Messenger (Tools > Options > Personal > Change Picture…)
Hope this helps…

ParticipantIf you are using Windows XP, they are located in:
C:Documents and Settings*UserName*Application DataMicrosoftMSN Messenger*NumberedFolder*UserTile
Application Data is a hidden folder, so you may have to type it in your address bar if you cannot see it. Also, the files are all named something like “TFR1A.tmp”, simply rename the extension to .bmp to view the display pic. Copy and paste at will.

MemberI’m using Windows 98, and I am also not able to view the images.
When I navigate to: C:WINDOWSApplication DataMicrosoftMSN Messenger3302669727UserTile and rename the first one for example: TFR0025.dat to TFR0025.bmp, I get an error that says: “Paint cannot read this file. This is not a vaild bitmap file, or its format is not correctly supported.”
I would suggest to rename the image to a .jpg as it has that has seemed to work for me.

MemberI’m having trouble changing the name…it just says the file name, eg. TFRA5 and then underneath it has DAT file, when I change the name to TFRA5.jpg or TFRA5.bmp it looks like it has changed but when go to the properties of that file it says that it is now called TFRA5.dat.jpg is there anyway of changing it from a DAT file, if so, how? I’m using XP if that helps.

ParticipantTry opening up a directory like “My Computer” or any folder on your desktop and on the top menu bar go to Tools > Folder Options > View and uncheck the option “Hide file extensions for known file types”. This will allow you to change the extension name.

MemberHey, does anyone know how to view the temp files that MSN Messenger makes for other people? Like when their display pictures come up, they have to be saved somewhere. Anyone know where?

Memberhey UniMatrixJohnny how bout we don’t ask the same question in two different places. I think we should instead stick with this thread for your question 😉
