AVI’s are a really normal format of video which computers should be able to play… but my computer doesn’t play them. Whenever I download something and it’s a .avi it just plays as sound in any prog I use (Windows Media Player, Quick Time says it can’t play it, iTunes fails at it). Basically anything I use to play them…it just doesn’t work. It’s been making me kinda angry because I spend some time downloading short movies or whatever off of X-Fire (nothing illegal..stuff like Pure Pwnage that I just want on my comp) and they don’t play.
Is there anything I can do to fix it? It can’t be the programs I’m using – None of them play it. Sometimes it gives codec errors (Quick Time) or just plays the audio (Windows Media Player 11).
Please help a guy out here =D
Any other info you need let me know…computer was bought in August making it quite new.

Or you could try VLC media player which “supports a large number of media formats, without the need for additional codecs.” Hope that helps. 🙂

And I highly recommend VLC… if it can’t play your video, there’s probably something wrong with your video. :p
