Anyone know how to change the opacity for the background image in a IM window?
December 12, 2003 at 3:29 am #87339slackertildeathMemberWhat do you mean by opacity? If you’re wondering how to make it transparent, it can’t be done. If you mean how do you change the image itself, you need a theme with an IM window background picture.
December 12, 2003 at 4:26 am #87344chewy74MemberYeah, I was wondering how to make it transparent. I DL’ed an AIM expression that has an image in the IM windows background, but it’s not transparent.
It makes the text very hard to read, but I like the theme and hoped to figure out a way to make it transparent enough to read the text and still leave the pic.December 12, 2003 at 5:12 am #87338slackertildeathMemberSorry, but there’s no way I know to make it transparent. However, it might be possible, because there are programs like DeadAIM that can make the buddy list transparent.
December 12, 2003 at 5:45 pm #87335Jeff HesterKeymasterChewy, if you have Photoshop, you can adjust the opacity of an image very easily. For an image that would appear behind text like a buddy list, I usually use about 40% opacity.
Even if you don’t have Photoshop, most better image editors allow you to adjust opacity.
December 12, 2003 at 7:00 pm #87343chewy74Memberthanks jeff.
does anyone know where the pic would be stored?
December 12, 2003 at 8:58 pm #87337slackertildeathMemberYou need to put it as part of a theme. If you don’t know how to make your own theme, read this
December 12, 2003 at 9:00 pm #87342chewy74MemberI’m already using the theme i want. What I wanted to do was edit the picture in the background IM window for an already exsisting theme im using
January 12, 2004 at 11:07 pm #87341chewy74Memberok, does anyone know where i can find the location to change the image in my buddylist background?
I tried looking around with reshack, but dont know enough to mess around with files at all. So I’d rather ask someone who knows where I can find it.
thanks
January 13, 2004 at 2:53 am #87336TigerbladeParticipantin reshack, its AimRes.dll, Bitmap 273… you’ll have to delete it first (right click it, choose delete, ignore the error message) and then create a new Bitmap resource with your picture, and then name it BITMAP 273, language 1033
if that doesnt make sense, i can clarify
January 13, 2004 at 4:27 am #87340chewy74Membercan the image i replace it with be any length? or do i need to conform to the (already exsisting) image?
and thanks, i understood the instructions, but can’t i just overwrite it with the image i want rather then having to delete it?
