I uninstalled and reinstalled Windows Live Messenger the other day thinking there was something wrong with the offline messaging feature. When I got it reloaded I noticed the backgrounds have disappeared. I’m now seeing boxes with x’s inside them. Does anybody know how to bring the backgrounds back? I had some of my own that I added to Windows Live Messenger too and they are gone as well. The emoticons and display pics are fine. It’s just the backgrounds not showing anymore. Windows Live Messenger was working fine till I uninstalled and reinstalled it. Hope somebody out there can help me fix Windows Live Messenger so I can use my backgrounds. If someone needs me to show a screenshot of the blank boxes I will be glad to attach the file.

Liz aka Auntie LizI first repaired Windows Live Messenger that’s when the backgrounds disappeared and weren’t sticking anymore. Uninstalling and reinstalling didn’t help fix it at all.
Do you have the full version or the Beta version? I am not terribly familiar with Live Messenger…but I know sometimes beta versions do not support everything. It also could be that the new version does not support them…
I know that there have been some odd things happening in Yahoo! leading up to integration with MSN…so I am guessing it may work both ways. Perhaps some one else knows a bit more…but maybe wait a few days or a week and try again…also, you may want to send a bug report to MSN. 🙂 Hopfully I helped a little bit. 🙂I have the final version of Windows Live Messenger. The first time I installed it everything was fine till I got too tired and started messing around with it. I think you are totally right. Think there may be a bug that’s causing my backgrounds to disappear because I’ve tried deleting the backgrounds folder and re-adding all of them and that didn’t help either. I’ll wait a little longer and hopefully someone else would give me a little more of an idea of what’s going on then I will report the bug to MSN :). If nobody else has another idea I will report the bug next Monday and hopefully MSN will figure out why the backgrounds are disappearing. The bug is probably causing this to happen. I’ve tried everything I can think of on my end. I’ll be glad when the problem has been fixed. I’m really missing being able to use my backgrounds. I’m sure it’s just a little glitch with the backgrounds feature and it can be fixed :).
