MemberBarack Obama (Democrat) will be the new president of the United States.
With 349 electoral votes (11:17 AM EST, November 5th, 2008), he has exceeded the needed 270 for presidency. Click here for confirmation and news updates.
How do you all feel about this? Feel free to share your thoughts and comments.

MemberI’m glad Obama won too. After all I did vote for him, as I feel he’s the one who can lead us out of the hole George W. Bush put us in.

I am very appreciative that one is in again.

ParticipantThis is only the second Presidential election I’ve voted in, but I don’t remember ever being so genuinely excited about a Presidential candidate (and now President-elect) as I am now.
Totally stoked.
“Yes we can.”

I’m not about to get into a political discussion but please read more than what the media puts out there before blaming George Bush for “the hole” we are in. There are many more factors involved other than him being the president so please spare me. Now he wasn’t the greatest president, obviously, but don’t put the blame soley on him.

KeymasterI am also stoked. I was a registered Republican, but I voted for Obama because, frankly, the Republicans abandoned the fiscally conservative values that I liked. They botched it, and it’s time for a change.
On top of that, Obama is the smarter guy (no disrespect to McCain). That matters.

ParticipantI’m just hoping the people who were staunch McCain supporters eventually come around to at least accept the reality that Obama won.
I was reading an article today about how many Republicans are going to be extremely bitter, because the McCain/Palin campaign was so heavily relying on fear and racism, even outright hate (there was one article where a cold-caller was told “let’s hang the darky”) that it’s not going to be easy to accept defeat. The point of the article was that “some of them believed they were fighting against the AntiChrist.”
Scary.

Tigerblade wrote:“some of them believed they were fighting against the AntiChrist.”I heard about this as well…I don’t understand the reasoning of these people who think Obama is the Antichrist. I just dont – but people are going to think what they want to think.
One thing I would like to say about McCain: I believe he had a very powerful and respectful concession speech (I saw it in PIG class, via youtube). He accepted defeat and I felt his words were genuine for respecting Obama’s victory. It showed me a side of McCain I had not seen before.
But I am very happy, and looking forward to, Obama being our new president. 🙂
