Hey, any other Battlestar Galactica fans here? Not the old series, but the new one with Edward James Olmos, et. al.? This season (season three) is supposed to be the final season which wraps up the whole story.
I love this show. I got sucked in before Season Two started, when I read some positive reviews and heard a lot of good buzz about it, and the parallels between BSG and the war in Iraq. BSG is not your typical sci-fi show. It makes you think about a lot of moral issues like what it really means to be human, racism, etc.
But… like Lost, it’s hard to jump in unless you’ve watched from the beginning. I downloaded the entire first season from torrents online, then watched the second (and am now watching the third) seasons on TV. It’s all coming down to the wire now, and I can’t wait to see how it all ends!
May 14, 2008 at 4:13 pm #169331Jeff HesterKeymasterI’m a fan, even though my girlfriend thinks I’m a geek and snickers whenever I talk about it. You are right about watching from the beginning. Highly recommended.
May 14, 2008 at 5:34 pm #169341TigerbladeParticipantI guess I’m lucky then, Jeff. My girlfriend and I are rabid BSG fans. Every Friday night — BSG. Well… not every Friday night… that’s what the DVR is for.
She even has a “Viper Squadron” shirt.
Yeah. Though I’m sad…. this is the final season.
May 14, 2008 at 5:51 pm #169332Jeff HesterKeymasterThere may be opportunities for BSG spin-offs, depending on how this season ends. Frankly, I’m happy to know that there will be an end. It’s nice to know there will be some sort of conclusion. Shows like LOST get on my nerves after a while (although they claim there’s and end for that, too… two more seasons from now).

May 14, 2008 at 7:09 pm #169333Jeff HesterKeymasterYou can get the first two seasons on DVD (I think). It’s an interesting story, so I hope you can track it down.
May 14, 2008 at 7:23 pm #169345YahooliganMemberOr do like I did and download the torrents. The downside is you have to watch them on your PC.

May 15, 2008 at 7:34 am #169334Jeff HesterKeymasterGood suggestion, Philip (reps up).
I’ve uploaded some BSG buddy icons to our other sister site, HisBuddyIcons. Check’em out.
June 21, 2008 at 12:20 am #169336FanaticMemberOh man! Did anyone see the Battlestar Galactica “mid-season finale” last week? It was… interesting?
After three years of BSG and searching for earth…
Well, did anyone see it before I spoil it? 😀
January 26, 2009 at 2:15 pm #169338GandalfMemberI saw it (months ago now). The final 10 episodes started 1.5 weeks ago here. They’ve shown the first two, and… I’m bored. I hope they can kick up the drama a notch.
January 27, 2009 at 3:03 am #169342TigerbladeParticipantI haven’t seen last week’s episode yet (waiting for my girlfriend to have some free time – we usually watch together) but I was thoroughly WTF-IS-HAPPENING’d during the return episode.
I’m curious to see how they’re going to wrap everything up all nice and tidy. Hopefully they don’t make it into some sort of weird cliffhanger to make us need to watch their Caprica spinoff (which technically happens way in the past).
January 29, 2009 at 1:36 am #169339GandalfMemberYeah, I’m curious to see how they wrap it up, too. I would have thought that finding Earth would be a logical “endpoint.” too bad it’s not.
Imagine BSG arriving in present day Earth…
March 17, 2009 at 8:54 pm #169340GandalfMemberUPDATE: Intergalactic Representatives at the U.N. — This is a REAL headline from the New York Times.
A group of representatives from the abandoned planet Caprica addressed the United Nations today. Wow.
Oh, and the FINAL episode of the show airs this Friday. Who’s watching? Any bets on how it ends??
March 19, 2009 at 9:28 pm #169335Jeff HesterKeymasterI’ll be there this Friday. It’s been a good series, but I’m glad it’s coming to an end. I need the break!
