ParticipantSo with Dave just unstickying the Drupal/CMS thread, it reminded me… I believe Dave brought up the idea of a Wiki before, but it’s been banished to page 2 land or something.
I really think we should implement a Wiki here at BBB. We could replace the IM centers with the Wiki. If you ask me, Wiki’s aren’t hard to use, they’re layed out VERY well, and they’re highly popular so I think people would get that “warm fuzzy feeling”, so to speak when they use it, it’s something they won’t have to struggle to navigate.
There are other solutions out there, but where we are right now, a Wiki would be the best bet. I seriously think we should add one in, and I’ll be more than willing to help out on it! This could work out very well with the “new BBB”, the current IM centers seem cluttered to me, and not organized at all, it just seems like news articles throw on a page with large titles. With the Wiki we could easily have tips and tricks pages, common installtion help, general troubleshooting tips, how to transfer a buddy list, et cetera.
So what do you all think?

MemberI’m strongly against wikis but I can’t gather my thoughts right now.
Also, I’ve proposed something that, if it is possible, would be better than a wiki by far.

That would be?

MemberWell, I’m still trying to see if it is even right for what we need, let alone if the server can run it…
Now that I think of it..there are a lot of alternatives that may be good for us.

ParticipantA wiki is the way to go. It’s easy to edit pages, therefore easy to keep updated. We all know how wiki’s work, I really think that is what we want. We don’t want some hard to use CMS that a few select people have figured out.

KeymasterIt’s not going to be a wiki, not for the IM Centers.
Don’t freak out — it WILL be easy. It just won’t be a wiki.
