Maybe it’s just me, but I hate it when I see ads appear in the banner heading, and for that matter, in the side columns. Would it be possible to just push them down as low as possible in the homepage? If I were a first-time viewer I would just dislike to see ads assaulting me as soon as I view the homepage.
The BBB banner heading could then stand out on its own, perhaps with some graphics (not too obtrusive) in the plain blue background. Just my 2 cent’s worth.
And I will try to get a mockup done soon, Spike. I promise…:p
May 19, 2007 at 5:07 pm #161462MrEggsaladParticipantI’ve been away at DC. I have something I’m working on though, hopefully I’ll finish that today.

No using MS Paint, now. 😉
And your comment about the ads… most people have ad blockers, anyway, so it’d be a white empty space.
May 20, 2007 at 6:56 pm #161461DrBroccoliParticipantI’ll work on one… maybe in a week or so. It’s the last 2 weeks of school and I have tons of projects and tons of exams coming up, not to mention I had 3 hours of combined sleep this weekend (Fri-Sun), because I was a Youth Staff member at a camp for 6th graders.
I’ll make one, I promise, it’s just not high on my priority list right now.
May 23, 2007 at 3:25 pm #161455Jeff HesterKeymasterI’m not EVEN considering switching to phpBB, but they just release phpBB 3.0 RC1 and it is built entirely without tables. It has much more of a Web 2.0 look about it, and the code is much cleaner.
I’m curious to hear what you think of their new design, generally speaking.
May 23, 2007 at 4:05 pm #161456detn8rParticipantI like it actually. Their default forum layout is garbage but design in general is very nice.
May 23, 2007 at 11:33 pm #161459SpikeMemberI love their new postbits. They’re very web2.0-esque. 🙂
May 24, 2007 at 2:32 am #161457detn8rParticipantYou kidding me? It’s very hard to follow, not to mention ass backwards compared to the open market. We want to be different, thats cool — not piss off everyone that already enjoys coming around.
May 24, 2007 at 3:12 am #161460SpikeMemberDet: Then you explain to me how we can be “different” and yet stay “the same” for expsting people, because we certainly can’t do both, they’re opposites.
I think we need a radical new approach to displaying posts to people. I hate this square, table-like layout, and I think we need to get with the new web-2.0 rounded corners and smooth-everything theme.
May 24, 2007 at 11:02 am #161463MrEggsaladParticipantMaybe we make something like beta.bigblueball.com and put something like that there, just to see what people think of it.

Make a beta build, post it with a simple poll, and ask our members what they think.
