I’d personally like to see the ‘CODE’ tag ignore other BBCode tags inside it.
For example:
b][/b]CODE][/bmoo![/B][/CODE]That should show up as ‘[B]moo![/B]’ and not as a bold ‘moo!‘
This could be very useful for showing other members how the BBCode tags work.
June 11, 2003 at 9:41 am #61576DJHyperbyteMemberOh, and I just noticed a little bug. Reproducable this way:
– Read a thread
– Click on the ‘New Topic’ link at the bottom
– Type a title and a message
– Click ‘Submit topic’
Then the forum will bring you to the thread you were reading, instead of the thread you just posted.June 11, 2003 at 4:46 pm #61566Jeff HesterKeymasterGood suggestion on the code blocks. I’ll think about that one.
The other issue is definitely a bug. It’s added to my to-do list.
June 11, 2003 at 5:11 pm #61573FaizanMemberNo, the second one aint a bug!
If you are on active topics page, and you press New Topic button in the topic’s line, you post the topic and after posting, you will come back to active topics not new topic! Thats what the snitz default setting is!
June 11, 2003 at 8:40 pm #61565Jeff HesterKeymasterFaizan, I understand that’s how Snitz works, but I agree with DJHyperbyte that it is the WRONG behavior. In my opinion, it’s a bug. You could argue that it’s just poor design. 😉

I agree, I had initially thought that was what it was for, but discovered it not to be. So that left me wondering….what exactly is the tag for then?[Code] tag for then?
June 11, 2003 at 8:45 pm #61574FaizanMemberBut I think its there because you don;t need to read your posted topic just after another post! I don’t want to argue about it:)
Its upto you to fix it or not!>>My opinion<<
I like this feature because I get to know how many people read my topic after i post it, without having my read count as well. But again, thats only my opinion, everyone have their own thoughts and opinions! You can change it if you really want to, or if members really want you to!June 11, 2003 at 8:53 pm #61589shifterMemberI like to read through my post once before I post, and then once after its posted to make sure everything has posted correctly without errors. So to me it is a small annoyance to have to find the topic again after posting. I would prefer to post and be directed automatically back to that topic. I also find it quite easy to subtract my one view from the read count to see how many have read the Topic. Thats my opinion.
June 11, 2003 at 9:10 pm #61572FaizanMemberI normally use Preview feature for these purposes!
But thats just me!June 11, 2003 at 9:41 pm #61588shifterMemberAs do I…but I personally am wary of such previews and like to make sure it posts as intended. If you buy a newspaper ad do you only read the reciept to make sure its correct or do you buy the paper and look up your ad to make sure? Thats how I look at it. But as you said..thats just me! 😀 Perhaps after 500 posts I may be as trusting as you!
June 11, 2003 at 9:59 pm #61568macroheadwithamicrobrainMemberDJHyperbyte, but that’s the way the tag looks.
It’s used, for example, to help a new user how to use put an image in the forum:‘Hi NewUser, you can put an image by using this code:’
[CODE][/CODE]If you want the other tag appears as it does, use the
instead.
If you’re familiar with other board engine like phpBB, Invision Power Board, IkonBoard, etc
you’d know it’s not a bug.[CODE] tag looks.

You seem to be confused, the bug he was reffering to was in regards to posting a new topic.Now the [CODE] tag does not actually work the way you have explained as you have put in the tags surrounding the “[” before “img]” it could be done the same way without using the [CODE] tag..for example (you will have to use the quote feature to see this as i did to see yours)
The way we would like it to work would look like the above in the post, but coding should be:
[CODE][blue][[/black]/CODE]understand what i mean?[CODE] tag looks.

you’d know it’s not a bug.macroheadwithamicrobrain, I am very familiar with them, and I know how BBCode works, thanks. Please just read my post before you comment. I am making a SUGGESTION, not a BUG REPORT.
shifter, the [CODE] tag is for… code. It uses a static font so that all characters have the same size. Also, it allows text alignment using tabs and spaces. For example, look at the difference:
Without code tag: #include
using namespace std;// program starts here
void main()
{
// print message
cout << "Hello world!";
}
With code tag:
#include
using namespace std;// program starts here
void main()
{
// print message
cout << "Hello world!";
}[/CODE]
These two code examples are exactly the same text. As you can see, the second part (with the [CODE] tag) is easier to read.[CODE]
#include
using namespace std;// program starts here
void main()
{
// print message
cout << "Hello world!";
}[/CODE]
