The problem with what you are asking for ([code] and [/code] tags) is that the way Snitz chkstring function works is that It uses a (Actually It uses a different statement, but like a replace) replace statement to convert from UBB to HTML code. e.g.
Code:fString = doCode(fString, ““, ““, ““, ““,1,-1,1)Therefore it is complicated to make that tag, then parse all the data between those tags. IMO not worth it.
June 11, 2003 at 11:49 pm #61582NhyrvanaMemberlooks at david… goes “huh”……..
where are my legos and crayons….no. seriously. i semi get ya…… but…. in MY situation…. i am trying to help someone CONVERT all the code for an imood.. to the forum code…… and i used [*url= ( *’s to “deactivate the code so she could see it…… but that just confused her more….
if the [code tag isnt an option. then its not……..
i just put together a page with the converted imood tag….. ( cause its NOT easy for people who dont use html to understand what part is what…… let alone convert it to [ tags then….. ) and hopefully it will help some folks see the difference…… and maybe encourage them to move beyond…..but i sure like the [code tag 🙁
June 12, 2003 at 12:13 am #61570FaizanMemberTesting the code tag:
BB Code:
Code:Does it work?HTML:
Code:Does it work?*Faizan presses preview*
OK… So it works for HTML (and other languages) but doesn’t work for forum code!
I now understand the topic:DBut the code tag is there for a purpose, because Moderators, Administratos and Super Moderators are allowed to use HTML in posts (If enabled in Admin Options) And they use this tag when they have to show members something in HTML, and have to help them!
*Faizan now understands the topic completely*
But for the forum code, use this:
{code}{img{b}{/b}}whatever.image.location.here{/img{b}{/b}}{/code}
Replace {s with [s!
Test with forum code:Code:[/b]]whatever.image.location.here[/img]*Faizan presses Preview again*
Yes it works!
Hope it makes sense…
June 12, 2003 at 12:30 am #61585shifterMemberGood idea Faizan, the only problem is that Newbies who have never heard of coding still get lost as soon as you spit out the words “replace this with that”. The best way for them to get the help they need is with an example they can simply copy and paste. Thats why an option to disable the Forum Code would be very handy.
June 12, 2003 at 12:38 am #61577DavidParticipantWell The option to disable forum code completely in the post is simple to do, If Jeff wants me to, I’ll write a MOD to do this.

Shifter, that bit still worked, I mean if YOU replace them and put it in like I did:
Code:[/b]]whatever.image.location.here[/img]Newbies wont have to replace anything!

and
in HTML.
SuperAdmin HTML Only MOD is not included in the Baseline SnitzForums 2k 3.4.03 Install, and it has nothing to do with the code tags.
