Nothing will completely stop you from being booted. All we can offer is ways of reducing the risk and suggestions. Sorry if you find them useless but it’s better than trying nothing.
May 8, 2006 at 9:43 am #143894stays_alertMemberThe only thing i can’t tell you that will keep you from being booted is, to select the option of ignore everyboy that is not on your friend list. So you will not recieve messages from anybody else but the downfall is that you have to add everybody you just meet to your friend list if you want to talk to them in a pm instead of in the chat room.

what would be a reason that someone would boot you off of yahoo messenger? I know this may sound a bit silly but I have been on messenger for roughly 8 years I have many people on my friends list and never once have I been booted off. I would just like some information for my thrist of knowledge. thanksMay 8, 2006 at 12:40 pm #143889NessaParticipantstays_alert wrote:The only thing i can tell you that will keep you from being booted is, to select the option of ignore everyboy that is not on your friend list…This will not always protect you as there are packets sent to your computer that do not require flooding to boot you.

what would be a reason that someone would boot you off of yahoo messenger?…The reason i know (may be wrong) is that when you get booted off yahoo messenger, the boot is more powerful and easier(faster). When they do this, they can easily make your computer crash. When they boot from room they aren’t as powerful, so in the booter’s eye, they go for the more powerful of the two, to get rid of you. I may be wrong, but from what i know this is how it works.
May 11, 2006 at 6:47 am #143892StrigoiMemberI may be off topic but you also boot somebody when you try to log in as them on another computer. Its what is happening to me lately, well it actually just happened to me twice,in the past week, but the though is annoying, cause i talk to just a few people so one of them must be playing around with my id.Doesnt have any chances to find out my password but…if i ever figure out who’s doing it…he’d better have his testament ready 😀

You can’t just act nice and avoid the “flood”. You need flitering software if you want to protect yourself from it.
July 18, 2006 at 8:07 am #143899Windy1150MemberI keep on getting booted out of yahoo chat with “ypager error” message. most of the time this just closes down yahool. Just sign back in and pray that one remembers where he was!! Other times it causes my pc to freeze (which could be due to the slowness (old) of the pc and windows ME). I’ve installed, uninstalled Yahoo Messinger many times and have updated to messinger with voice but the problem still persists. Help. Thanks windy

Yahelite, Yazak or Y tunnel, OR ?You can try some of these suggestions here to set up Yahoo! Messenger to be more resistant against booting. Or if you not, i’m sure someone else will come around and let you know which of those other third-party programs is better but i wouldn’t know since i use the original Yahoo! Messenger. Hope you find what you are looking for! 😛

I get this one too sometimes which also just shuts down yahoo as windy stated. Just last night I uninstalled 7.5 and installed 8.0, hopefully that will help? The other day some idiot booted me because he was annoyed with the ignore messages from my ytunnel. Jerk. Course he was gone by the time I came back. I like Yazak, I have yet to be booted when using that, I just prefer the convienence of going into chat through messenger.
