I finally took the plunge to the beta version of YM on Vista Home Premium. Other than a DLL that came up with an error (but did not halt the installation) it all went pretty well. There are a few small annoyances, mostly just differences I need to get used to, but it’s actually working quite well. (…Surprisingly!!)
Voice conference works, 1-1 phone calls work, webcam is fine. So far so good.
Unfortunately a friend with Vista Basic was not so lucky on the voice end of things. After upgrade he cannot hear or talk in voice conference. He has the Codec installed, and on version 8 was just fine, but the beta seems to blow away voice conference for Vista Basic. I’ve searched but not found any suggested workarounds yet. If anyone has one I’d love to hear about it!

So, for me, thus far I’ve been happy with the fact there are less issues than I’d expected. However, I’ve only given it a short test so far, I may feel differently after I’ve had a chance to play a bit more over the weekend.
Any thoughts on my friend’s problem with Vista Basic and no sound or mic in voice conference?
