MemberOk for the last 2 months my y-msgr drives me crazy. While it works fine when I use it to IM ppl, it has huge problems when I use it to go into chatrooms.
I can only be seen typing in the room for 15-10 mins (1 hour was the longest that ppl could see me typing in these 2 months). After that I can read my text but noone else can:mad:. Funny thing is that if I am on voice when this happens, it keeps working fine and everyone can hear me but not read me!
When I log out and try to log back in, it won’t let me go back to the room at all:eek:. I have to try like 10 times in order to be able to go back in a chatroom.
I’ve tried lots of things to fix this. I have uninstalled and installed msgr more times than I can remember and I’ve downloaded older versions in case the latest 1 had the problem but nothing works. The 1st time I download it it lets me type in the room for an hour or so and then I’m back to 10 mins, it’s so frustrating!
By the way like I said IM’s always work and also my webcam works fine … the problem is only with chatrooms.
Any ideas on what I can do about this???February 28, 2004 at 1:45 am #84007Oreo

MemberDo you only use messenger? You can use Java, it works better then messenger for a chat room, yahoo has been having those problems for awhile now. In Java if people can’t see you then you have to refresh, and the same thing happens in messenger, I have had it happen to me. Also Private messages don’t work well either. I hope this helps.

MemberNo it’s not a virus or trojan for sure.
As for using java…ok I’m computer illiterate:o. What’s the difference between java and y-chat 2.0??? Aren’t they both Yahoo chat:confused:February 28, 2004 at 12:11 pm #84010MooNLighT
MemberOk this is a long shot but like I said I’m computer illiterate:p.
My messenger just allowed me to stay in chat (and type!) for over 2 hours and the only thing I had done different was deleting some emotes. I got those emotes from Tiglath…as soon as I d/led them again and used a few in chat I became invisible again:eek:
And I’m wondering could there be some connection between emotes and the reason why I can’t stay visible in chat for long? Sorry if my question sounds stupid but I’m at my wit’s ends here and I’m trying EVERYTHING!February 28, 2004 at 3:00 pm #84006Oreo
MemberThere might be…perhaps program incompatabilities.??? You already said you don’t have any trojans. I don’t know the site of which you speak, so I don’t know EXACTLY what else is on it. Try shutting down all other windows programs when you are chatting, maybe that will work?

MemberI have been having problems with this too. And it’s driving me crazy. No viruses, no emotes…..none of that stuff is on my computer. I don’t even bother people in the room, so I know it’s not that. This happens to me every day. I can chat for about 5 min at a time. Then I have to switch names and it works just fine……..for 5 min. And it doesnt seem to matter how many people are in the room when I try to rejoin…..I can’t get back in. For like half an hour, I can’t get back in. If you guys figure something out, please help me…….I’m gonna cry lol.

MemberI did an experiment and found that my type goes invisible if I either, type too many lines of text in the room too quickly, I think Yahoo thinks I’m spam and it like bans me. But if I switch to talking on the mic, and wait about 10 minutes in the room, my type is restored. I don’t think it’s a setting on the system at all. It’s probably something with yahoo, or packets being lost, or server blips, etc. Now this happened to me, almost daily for a long time, now all of a sudden, it doesn’t happen anymore. I can’t make it happen. What have I changed you may ask? NOTHING!!! lol That’s what makes me think that maybe yahoo was running some program on the server I was connected to, which was causing this to happen.
Good luck.
