It says 10 people have read this but 0 responses. Now either no one knows the answers to my questions or y’all are already so use to jokes from me that you assume I’m kidding with these questions.
Now which is it?
============================================
Howdy y’all:DWell I have all kinds of questions now….
First of all what do the numbers in our game stats mean or what do they represent exactly? Like score count… 42 what exactly?
And whats a ping and my avg is 212 ms whatdoes ms stand for?LOL I feel like I’m being talked about in a foriegn language. I use to hate it when my former in laws would do that LOL!
(I use to be a mexican LOL):cool:I have also noticed that on many of the games the how to info is quite sketchy. Is there somewhere more detailed instructions available?
I’m a girl and more likely to actually read the directions … even if I dont follow them.
Thanks.
ps my desire for info is just a healthy curiosity … I’m not obscessing over my competition with anyone. HEHE
September 15, 2007 at 2:53 pm #164186Jeff HesterKeymasterI haven’t scrutinized the game stats before, but I’ll take a stab at it. Everyone else, feel free to jump in and correct me if I go astray.
AnnieHall;222926 wrote:First of all what do the numbers in our game stats mean or what do they represent exactly? Like score count… 42 what exactly?I believe your score count is the total number of times your name appears in the “high scores” for all games in the arcade.
AnnieHall;222926 wrote:And whats a ping and my avg is 212 ms whatdoes ms stand for?Ping measures network latency. the “ms” stands for milliseconds, and lower numbers are better. It’s mostly useful for debugging if you have problems playing a game (poor response time). 212 ms should be perfectly fine for the games we’ve got here in the BigBlueBall arcade. Of course, for some of the games where time is not an issue, ping wouldn’t really matter at all.
AnnieHall;222926 wrote:I have also noticed that on many of the games the how to info is quite sketchy. Is there somewhere more detailed instructions available? The only instructions available are what you see on the screen. They were created by different people, and some took the time to create instructions; some did not. Remember that the games are free, and sometimes you get exactly what you pay for. 🙂
Have fun in the arcade!
September 21, 2007 at 12:24 am #164193Leapy LeoMemberThankyou for that, Jeff. I read it with interest even if I didn’t understand most of it.
PS I think we should add more games to the arcade now. How abvout “Paintbrush?”
September 24, 2007 at 2:31 am #164203AnnieHallParticipant??okies …. I posted my query on the v-arcade forum and this is the response I got:Quote:You could try this mod, but you will need to find and fill in the game and author information of each game your self.

I just tested it on the newest arcade, its working fine.Does anyone know what that means? LOL!
September 24, 2007 at 9:46 pm #164188RabidKittenParticipantEh if I’m looking at it right, they’re assuming that you have control over the game and all that instead of just playing it.
*shrugs* I don’t particularly know what they mean otherwise, but it’s an add on to the system that we’d have to impliment.
I don’t mess with the arcade much. It messes with my mojo.
September 25, 2007 at 7:34 am #164202AnnieHallParticipant——Erm … okay, well I gave it a shot. If any of you programming type admins want to make use of the add on I fetched, that would be groovy.Otherwise, Thanks for answering my silly questions.
Good luck and happy gaming y’all!:D
September 25, 2007 at 6:14 pm #164187Jeff HesterKeymasterAnnie, that add-on will simply give us the ability to store and display game instructions, but it doesn’t magically add game instructions for any of the games. These would still have to be written by somone.
If we can get some volunteers to help write basic instructions, we can install the modification. Any takers?
September 25, 2007 at 6:24 pm #164194Leapy LeoMemberI would be willing to try and take that on.
Just basic instructions, right? Should I send them to you?

Any takers?Jeff, I’m a little slow so thank you for your patience. Does that mean that you would have detailed instructions for each game and you could display them but you would rather they be in some form other than how they come to you? Is that what you need written? Or do they come in sand script or something other than english? If I can understand the instructions and they just need to be trimmed down or explained in better language, I can write and I can teach. So, I’d be willing to give it a whack.Quote:Just basic instructions, right? Should I send them to you?Leap, if you have instructions send them to me. :p That’s how this all got started. I just wanted further instructions on some games. LOL!I think we’re on to something here.September 26, 2007 at 6:05 am #164195Leapy LeoMemberI don’t have instructions, Annie.
I presumed the instructions needed creating [on some of the games that have relatively little info] by somebody who knows how the games work.
If that’s not the case forgive my ignorance.
September 26, 2007 at 7:57 pm #164189RabidKittenParticipantokay, basically this add-on you found is just a blank slate. It comes with no new instructions or additions. It’s just a little plug that lets us write things.
In this case, it could let us add instructions to the game. Thing is, since it’s just a blank add-on, we would have to go through each and every game and write out all the instructions by hand. Then take the newly written instructions, put them into the plug in for that game then put the plug in into that game.
We would have to do that for each and every game that we have.
So we would have to have someone go to every game, write out a list of new instructions for all of them, send them to Jeff, who would have to put each set of instructions into the plug in for that game, then actually install the plug in.
Does that clear things up, Annie?
September 27, 2007 at 9:49 am #164205AnnieHallParticipant_”-:o/-“_Yes Kitten that clears up alot, thank you. I now know that the add on I found is pretty useless, LOL!Sorry guys … I thought perhaps I was on to something there. That’s where thinkin’ often leads me, unfortunately.Jeff, Kitten and Leap I do appreciate your efforts and information as well as your time and patience as I lead you on this wild goose cruize. I hope I haven’t annoyed y’all too much.:(Perhaps I’ll just ask the forum specific questions about games I was wanting instructions on as soon as I can remember what they were.:confused:Not loosing any sleep over it …….. I don’t sleep much anyway.:pSeptember 27, 2007 at 3:57 pm #164196Leapy LeoMemberDon’t apologise Annie. I thought you were onto something too, and you certainly havn’t annoyed anybody as far as I know.:D
September 27, 2007 at 6:34 pm #164190sarahtownyMemberToo right Leapy our Annie was only helping out, and no she has done nothing wrong.. Far from it bbb always likes to improve and if there is something that we can make better for the members, then hey give us your views, just as Annie did!
Me and Annie just need to get some girl power and beat you boys in there for a change!
*Rolls up sleeves*
September 27, 2007 at 6:42 pm #164191sarahtownyMemberp.s does den44057 have a job or anything? Flipping heck you spend 30 mins on your best game, get the high score then go to work for 8 hours come home and the guy has cleaned the board of high scores again ….
