A lot of the people in IRC (Myself included) use WindowBlinds 5. It’s a great little application for skinning over your Windows theme so you don’t end up using the standard old blue bar.
We were discussing, and someone thought up the idea for a BigBlueBall theme for WindowBlinds that people could download and use. We would most likely have someone contact a guy named “KoL” at devinatArt who designed the Vista theme (with transparency) for WB5, but we wanted to see if anyone would be interested in this, first.
So, how about it? Post your thoughts and opinions on making your computer’s theme look like BigBlueBall!
December 4, 2005 at 11:07 pm #134254MrEggsaladParticipantIt would be wonderful, especially if Kol would do it. Heh, he can do some pretty awesome stuff.
December 4, 2005 at 11:23 pm #134248DrBroccoliParticipantIf Kol did it… awesome, he is awesome at what he does. What about us doing it, keeping it a BBB project, it would be fun, we are all talented enough in different areas to make it work, I think it would be cool if we did it.
December 4, 2005 at 11:58 pm #134244SpikeMemberJust so you can all see the power of WindowBlinds 5, here’s my desktop (keep in mind this is a Windows XP computer) tweaked to look like Windows Vista:

December 5, 2005 at 1:40 am #134262DragonSlayerzMemberThat’s awesome, if Kol did make it. I’ll would send myself to the wb web site and download it, and get that BBB theme!
December 5, 2005 at 3:11 am #134241Jeff HesterKeymasterI love the concept. Who is this Kol guy? Could we do a blend of Windows Vista and BBB?
Looks like I’ll need to add WindowBlinds to my Christmas wish list. 🙂
EDIT: Ok, I sent Javier (Kol) an email asking if he’s available. I’ll let you know what I hear.
December 5, 2005 at 3:25 am #134263DragonSlayerzMemberNow we wait…

Ok, Kol is like the best skinner in the world heh. And A blend of Vista and BBB…now wouldn’t that be cool? Heh, not only would it appeal to us, but also other people who like the style. Very neat idea. Can’t wait to see what Kol says.December 5, 2005 at 6:01 pm #134249DrBroccoliParticipantJeff wrote:I love the concept. Who is this Kol guy? That is awesome! KoL is very active at Neowin, I see him post a lot there. That guy is nothing short of amazing.December 5, 2005 at 7:01 pm #134240Jeff HesterKeymasterI doubt he would do this for free though. I’ve never seen him do any skinning that advertises a specific site, except for his own but who knows he just might! Hopefully he’ll be able to do it. If not then I think if we all put our work together we can come up with something ourselves.

I’ve heard back from him and he’s willing to consider it.The real question is, what would a blend of Vista+BBB look like? Are we talking about taking the Vista skin and just blending in the BBB logo/colors, or something more elaborate?

I say we go all out on it, keep it simple, but very appealing. I’ll think of a few ideas and maybe put together a few mock-ups, or I can try.EDIT: I just thought of something, I know we want to do it for WindowBlinds5, but do want to make a .msstyles version, and do we want transparency? I think we need to think about that before we start anything, becuase not everone is going to have WindowsBlinds 5 Enhance for trasparency, and some people may use .msstyles instead.

I think we all want the transparency, and yeah, maybe some of us could give an idea of what it would be like, I have a few Ideas
December 5, 2005 at 10:02 pm #134251DrBroccoliParticipantWe might all want tranparency, but I doubt that many people will have WB5 enhnaced, and it must be enhanced to support third-party skin tranparency. I was just see if we wanted to go with a select few people who might download it, to a more broad selection of people who want it.
