Blank icons all the time

When I am speaking to people, if they use icons, they dont show up for me and are just blank? Any ideas?

Not really sure what you mean by icons…display pictures?

If you could go into more detail, it would be much appreciated.

I mean emotions, custom ones are just blank, also I cannot see other peoples display pictures and they cannot see mine. I can also not send files to people, the option to transfer a file never comes up for the other person. I can accept files though.

Are you using “zone alarm?” There has been a lot of problems involving zone alarm and the type of problem you are having.

yes I am, but even if I disable the IM security setting it still does not work.

I don’t have zone alarm so I don’t really know how it works, but this post said you had to turn off zone alarm before signing in to messenger:

Thanks Tea Granny, there was a fix for Zone Alarm, but still occasionly the odd emotion still won’t show up.

What is your internet connection? It’s possible they are not being downloaded properly, or that the person sending them is closing their connection before they are uploaded to the servers to be sent to you (such as them being on dial up). Just a thought.
