Hi people, I am back again with another problem related to my workplace.
One of my friends has been using yahoo messenger for 2 years with no problems at my workplace. Then one fine day, her machine was made into a server of sorts to host an internal tool site. After that Yahoo started giving problems.
She’s able to connect and can see her friend list. All her friend can see he online too. She’s able to recieve messages. But whenever she tries to reply or send an IM to anyone, whatever she types isn’t transmitted but goes out as a blank message. She’s tried reinstalling and reverting to older version of Yahoo msgr but has not worked.
If anyone of you has faced a problem like this and solved it, please reply and give me suggestions.

Deeps.Are you sure that your friend is using a text color that is readable on your background?
Also, you are saying that this problem appeared when the server was put on the computer. Has your friend ever tried to shut down (or remove) the server completely, and then Yahoo’ing?
Yeah she’s not using a white color text or something like that….
She hasn’t tried removing the server, because its very important and cannot be removed. That’s why she can’t format her machine either.
Also, to be a little more descriptive, when she types the message, she’s able to see it in the bottom part of the message window. But when she clicks on “Send” or presses enter, her userid comes up in the top part of the window, but not the message. Eg:

When sending/receiving IMs, I see no text — just a blank box.
When you send/receive an instant message and you see the typing notification but no message appears, you most likely have Scripting disabled in your Internet Explorer.
To enable Scripting:Click the Tools menu on your Internet Explorer toolbar, select Internet Options, and select the Security tab.
Click the Internet (globe) icon and select the Custom Level button.
Scroll down to Scripting and make sure that Active scripting, Allow paste operations via script, and Scripting of Java applets are all enabled.
Finally, close all open IM windows. You should start seeing text in your IM windows once againtry that

I have the same problem too. I checked your suggestion and still yahoo messenger didn’t go back to normal.
I’ve been having this problem as well. I have uninstalled and reinstalled. Used an older version..everything! People can see the messages I send them, but I can not see any of theirs. It shows that they are typing..but nothing ever comes up. I just followed the above instructions also and all my scripting was already set at “enabled”. Does ANYONE know what on earth I can do to fix this? It’s driving me (and everyone on my friend’s list) CRAZY!
