Post and Publish to any Blogger API compatable weblog (Blogger [1], b2 [2], MovableType [3], Nucleus [4], BigBlogTool [5], BlogWorks XML[6], Blogalia [7], and Drupal ) via this AOL Instant Messenger bot.
» Create and Publish new Posts.
» Delete Posts.
» Edit Posts. (Soon)
» Save unfinished posts temporarily for further publishing.
» Register multiple accounts. Each with multiple weblogs.
» Post preview. This particular service is offered as part of the testing phase of a larger AOL Instant Messenger utilty which is still in ‘beta.’ Future plans for this bot include all the normal ‘AIMbot’ functions (weather, games, spell check, message redirections, etc), this Blogger API client functionality, and LiveJournal client functionality. The source to this project may be released to the public sometime in the future when I’m satisfied with its progress, please follow the changelog located at my website [http://hisdesk.org/%5D.
Even if you don’t have a Blogger compatable weblog, please help me work through whatever bugs pop up by setting up an account and posting to the test weblog located at http://bluebot.blogspot.com/. View this bot’s profile (BloggerAPIBot) for further instructions and help with commands.
Thank you.

Another interesting variation would be a bot that could post to the typical forum apps (phpBB, Snitz, InfoPop, etc.). Seem doable?

It’s been a hectic week with school, so please excuse the lapse in time since your reply. I should have _some_ documentation and my source zipped and ready sometime this afternoon. …I hope. Anyway, I’m moving this project to http://blue.hisdesk.org if and when that subdomain propagates.
Your AIMweb based forum idea sounds interresting! I’m not familiar with any of these apps but if they’re open source or modular in design, adding some sort of interface in XML-RPC or a similar API wouldn’t be all that difficult. It may even be possible to use forum applications in their existing form and use HTTP POST just like a browser, it would definately be possible.
Sorry for the dead link and taking so long to reply.
September 21, 2002 at 3:04 pm #100711Jeff HesterKeymasterYou can definitely do the HTTP POST, and there are several forums that are open source. Snitz Forums (used here at BigBlueBall) run on ASP. PHPBB2 is another popular one that runs on PHP.
I’d be happy to help you put something together. Posting new topics would be very easy; I’m less certain how browsing and reading topics, or posting replies would work.
