MemberI am just interested to know from our members who blogs, what do you blog about if you do.
It’s something that has taken over on the internet. I feel personally I that I don’t give much out on mine, if you view mine your a close pal. However, some people give out everything about themselves, some are so personal you feel that your sneeking a look at someones diary it’s so personal…
On the net we are all told to keep all our personal stuff private but are blogs making people feel that they can express more than they should?
Interested to your views..

ParticipantWell… I decided sometime around April of last year that I’d get into this whole blogging phenomenon. At the time I didn’t think I’d do much of it, maybe once a week or a few times a month at the most. That was April. As of today, I have 178 total posts on my site.
I’ve found it’s actually somewhat of a therapeutic outlet. Not only is it a place to express whatever it is you’re thinking about or feeling at the moment, it’s a way to share interesting finds with anyone who might stumble across your little corner of the web.
My blog tends to gravitate more towards philosophical questions, observations I’ve made about the world around me, and general ranting. Occasionally I’ll get personal about something (introspection, or a rant about something that’s been irking me lately) but I try to keep it somewhat entertaining. Some people’s blogs really do sound like you’re reading a diary, or a list of what they did that day. “Today I met Johnny in the hall, then I got a drink of water, then I went to class, then I came home and looked out the window, then I went upstairs, then oh my god I talked to Jenny and like totally!” Blogs like that, to me, are the definition of wasted space. No one really wants to read the play by play on your day, unless it was amazingly interesting. The blogs I enjoy reading the most are the ones that are funny, or thought-provoking, or have a record of finding interesting things online, etc. Not the diaries.
Plus, there’s the added worry of giving away too much personal information on your blog. We’ve all heard the horror stories of people who were tracked down and raped or killed because of details they left online for people to find. I’m sure there’s some personally identifying information on my site, but nothing too much so that people who don’t already know where I live can come stalk me.

Memberi dont blog, simply because i like to write better in my journal. and i feel that online everyone can read what you have to say. sometimes if i want to rant about someone who made me angry or sad or whatever, i’m not just gonna write something out there like “i had a fight with jessica today” because there is the possibility of her reading it.
like tiger said, writing is theraputic to me. it lets me reflect back on things i have done right or wrong in my life. i’ve been keeping a jounal since the 5th grade, when i saw a documentary on anne frank and her diary. i still have all those old journals and it’s cute to look back at how corny i was when i wrote “i love billy” all over those things!

ParticipantMeh, I generally concure with the whole “why I write ” ordeal. Sometimes, with my anxiety and high emotional output (scorpio, go figure) and insomnia, I actually can not sleep until I write.
The thing is…I don’t live alone. And the possibility of keeping a private journal is an impossibility. And to be honest, I -like- keeping my rants and my purges. It’s like a timeline of what was happening in my life at that time.
So, as far as blogging goes I keep a general censored for public consumption blog and another that’s generally just trusted to my closest friends who I can tell anything to, even if it’s bad things about them, and they’ll understand.
And I did have a blog that if the entry was touchy I could password it so keep folks out if there was a possibility of someone getting pissed off. Yeah, like an msn spaces rant I had that my mother read and ‘had a discussion with me’ about it because she didn’t agree with my point of view.
This one blog I had for about 3 years. Not many entries but they were all important ones. … …about a month back they suffered from an unrecoverable drive failure…and lost -everything-. Now it may not seem like much, but those three years had some of the most astounding earth shattering things happen to me. Course then again, that’s what I get for making a journal in a place where I have no control. *mutter, rubs her head*
None the less. I don’t blog much on my registered bbb blog because it’s a pain to get to. I use myspace blog plenty because I’m a shameless myspacer. But in general I’m just not that much of a blogger, only when it comes in handy.
And I’m not at all covert when it comes to personal information, orhter than giving out my phone or address. *shrug* Really in my experience if it wasn’t for the fact that my friends might know where my journal is, nobody reads it anyway. And even if they do know where it is, nobody reads, heheh.

MemberI just blog when I have something to say….it just really irkes me when I write a lovely 360 one and find out I some how signed out and there’s NO WAY to get back what I wrote! So some are just “Crap! I lost my blog!” Heee hee hee…but those Blogthings RK turned me onto are a good way to talk about nothing! LOL…just rant about how crappy they are….what sort of underpants wearer I am….all sorts of stuff….anyway…blogs are a good way to spend some time when you need to be doing something else. IMHO….they are really just a way to get some thoughts out…no matter how random…so you can move onto something else. 🙂

MemberI killed mine over a year ago as I never found the time to post in it, or what to post about, and nobody really ever read it, and I don’t see myself starting another one in the near future

ParticipantWhat do I blog about? Whatever. Honestly. If something happens, I usually blog about it. Not in the annoying “today I got up” kinda way. I tie whatever happens in with some kinda advice, or a thought that really makes you think. Like my motto “Making a difference, one blog at a time”.
