Here’s some brain teasers for you guys to mull over, let’s see who’s first to figure them all out without cheating. 🙂
01.
There are 5 houses in 5 different colours. In each house lives a person of a different nationality. The 5 owners drink a certain type of beverage, smoke a certain brand of cigar, and keep a certain pet. Using the clues below can you determine who owns the fish?The Brit lives in a red house.
The Swede keeps dogs as pets.
The Dane drinks tea.
The green house is on the immediate left of the white house.
The green house owner drinks coffee.
The person who smokes Pall Mall rears birds.
The owner of the yellow house smokes Dunhill.
The man living in the house right in the middle drinks milk.
The Norwegian lives in the first house.
The man who smokes Blend lives next door to the one who keeps cats.
The man who keeps horses lives next door to the man who smokes Dunhill.
The owner who smokes Blue Master drinks beer.
The German smokes Prince.
The Norwegian lives next to the blue house.
The man who smokes Blend has a neighbour who drinks water.02.
Three people check into a hotel. They pay $30 to the manager and go to their room. The manager suddenly remembers that the room rate is $25 and gives $5 to the bellboy to return to the people. On the way to the room the bellboy reasons that $5 would be difficult to share among three people so he pockets $2 and gives $1 to each person. Now each person paid $10 and got back $1. So they paid $9 each, totalling $27. The bellboy has $2, totalling $29. Where is the missing $1?03.
James recently moved to his first brand new house. When he arrived there he discovered that the builder had forgotten something. James popped down to the Home Depot to enquire about the prices. Luckily the items are quite cheap at the shop. 7 cost $1.00, 10 cost $2.00 and 100 cost $3.00. What had the builder forgotten and how much will 210 cost?04.
Mr. Butcher, Mr. Baker, Mr. Carpenter and Mr. Plumber are currently attending an annual convention. No one is currently, nor ever has been in the same profession as their name suggests and no one has had the same profession twice. Charlie has never been a carpenter and Mr. Butcher is now a plumber. Dave used to be a butcher, whereas Mr. Brian Baker never has. Mr. Plumber is not called Eddie and Mr. Carpenter did not used to be a butcher. Can you determine the full names of each of the attendees, along with their current and previous profession?05.

Mr. Charlie Butcher = X-Baker = Plumber
Mr. Brian Baker = X-Carpenter = Butcher
Mr. Eddie Carpenter = X-Plumber = Baker
Mr. Dave Plumber = X-Butcher = Carpenter“Dave used to be a butcher, whereas Mr. Brian Baker never has,” I’m taking that as if just because he is now, means he never ‘has been’.. someone correct me if thats wrong.
05 – You are the tallest.

I solved all of those by just opening notepad and typing out data into structures… in retrospect I should have got a peice of paper and a pen though.
