I’ve got Messenger v8 and so does my gf. We use webcams all the time and it crashes at my end and hers. What gives?

Yes it will often work for ages then crash with no explanation. It happens on my side, and hers.
I’m using Win XP Professional Service Pack 2. Yahoo Messenger v8.0. Webcam is Packard Bell PB-WC100.
She’s using Win XP Professional Service Pack 2. Yahoo Beta 360 degrees. Webcam is A4Tech PK-336MB.

I don’t know, that’s what she told me when i asked her what version.

I don’t know what else I can explain. All we’re doing is sitting chatting then the cam windows shut themselves down and Messenger goes back to the login screen. It signs itself back in again then we have to restart the cams.
For one if she is on the Beta build she should uninstall and get the most recent version.
If shes been jut disconnected (which will make cam just close) she may have her connection set to “firewall with no proxies” which enabled YMSG via port 80 which like to just disconnect when it feels like it and will stop all cam and pm’s convo’s till you relogin.
if this is the case tell her to change it to “no proxies”
hopefully that should fix it.
Well ok Dermot we’ll give that a go. That still doesn’t explain why it also crashes at my end though.
