Buddies show as offline, even when really online!

does anyone know why my buddies are listed as being offline, when in fact they are online? This just happened 3 days ago, until then they were listed correctly! Many thanks!

Are they using AOL or AIM?

they could be using the new version of aim that allows them to do that

They are using AIM – should I try to upgrade to a higher version & If I do, will it mess up the other users on this computer?

i know there’s a program that makes it look like you’re always online. that could be a possibility

The new version allows THEM to appear offline when they are actually online, but, if they are using that option, you will still not be able to see them online. Did you try asking them if they actually chose to appear offline?, or if it is a problem on your side?.
