MemberI never reinstall it yet. Because I just don’t see the friends expression icon. My expression icon is showing. Do I still need to reinstall?

MemberNah, you shouldn’t have to reinstall. You can reset the whole buddy icon database that you have, but that means you’d be receiving a new buddy icon each time you talk to a new person instead of it instantly being there…it will just take a few seconds or even a few minutes.
FIRST, exit AIM completely. Click on your buddy list anywhere, the push all of these keys at the same time: alt + ctrl + F4. ‘ctrl’ might also be named ‘control’, depending on your keyboard. Make sure that you’re depressing all of those keys at once, and then AIM will be 100% exited. Please do it this way, because then I know there won’t be any chance of a problem in the next steps. 🙂
You’ll need to browse to
C:Documents and SettingsJPBApplication DataAimvhvrpeurbartcache
The blue are things you might need to change. The first blue, you need to use your XP user name. The second blue might be named something else random. Whatever the case for the second blue one, just browse until you find the bartcache folder. Once in the bartcache folder, delete the ‘0’ and ‘1’ folders.Ok, now sign onto AIM and IM your friend and let him/her IM you back. It might be instant or it might take a while, but the buddy icon should show up at some point now.
Let me know if otherwise 🙂

MemberI haven’t tried your suggestion. My friend does not see my icon either. By the way on your suggestion you said XP. I am using windows 98 SE. This part I don’t understand: FIRST, exit AIM completely. I did find the bartache folder. I’m afraid to delete folders that I don’t know. Anyway like I said now both of us don’t see each others icon.

MemberMy friend doesn’t see my buddy icon and I don’t see his. He is using AOL not AIM. This was working fine before, but still not working now. Did they blocked the buddy icon on AOL and AIM or what recently? It was working fine couple months ago or so. After that buddy icon not showing for me and him.
