Thanks for stopping by. I have a few questions…Is there any way in the AIM version 7.5 once you add Gmail contacts that you can merge them with your AIM or is it always going to be seperate?
There was another question but it’s slipped my mind
Google and AIM are two different networks. The latest version of AIM shows your AIM, Google, and Facebook contacts in a unified buddy list, but that’s mainly for convenience. If you have contacts on all three networks, their names may show up three times (once for each network). And of course, AIM functionality will differ a little on each network.
If you’re interested in creating a contact list that allows you to aggregate user accounts across social networks, take a look at Trillian (the Pro version — which is not free). It’s the only option I’m aware of that allows this feature.
Well isn’t there Pidgin, formally known as GAIM?
Hi Stu, another option is to go all in on Gchat by adding your AIM buddies to Gmail chat with this tool: AIM – Chat with all your Buddies & Facebook friends
I haven’t done it, because I still like the standalone AIM client, but if you like the Gchat interface, it might be right for you.
