MemberFor those of you who have been waiting for a way to change the colors in your buddy list, wait no more. After Googling “buddyui.ocm”, I came across this site, http://hack.modzine.net, browsed through their “AIM Mod” forum, and i came across a thread which talks about the colors for 5.5.3553 Beta. After reading through some of the other forum posts, I learned that these hex offset values are the same in 5.5.3572.
*disclaimer* – I have not tried this modification out for myself yet, as time has not been on my side lately, but I can try it, I will. Perform this modification at the risk of having to reinstall AIM.
What to do:
1) First, obtain a Hex editor. I found this free one called XVI32 at http://www.chmaas.handshake.de/delphi/freeware/xvi32/xvi32.htm2) Shut down AIM. You will be able to work with the files in the AIM direcrtory if AIM is still using them.
3) BACK UP “AimRes.dll”!!!! This is very[/b] important…. if you mess up, you may render AIM useless and will have to reinstall AIM.
4)Open “AimRes.dll” in your hex editor and navigate to these offset addresses and edit the colors to those of your preference.
Quote:quote:from Modzine.net forumBuddy List Background Color — Offset 0x006443 (Default: FFFFFF)
Buddy List Setup BG Color — Offset 0x006443 (Default: FFFFFF)
Buddy List Highlight Color — Offset 0x0063F8 (Default: FFFF00)
Buddy List Name Color — Offset 0x0063E5 (Default: 010101)
Buddy List ToolTip Color — Offset 0x006497 (Default: FFFFD0)
General Buttons BG Color — Offset 0x00865F (Default: FFFBF0)5) Save file, and restart AIM
If you don’t know the Hex values for the colors that you want, go here: http://www.jessett.com/web_sites/html/hex_colours.shtml Make sure that you leave out the “#” symbol when you are editing.
Let me know how this goes for you all, and I will also keep you posted if it works for me. 🙂

Memberor just get AIMutation…
February 22, 2004 at 7:22 pm #49420BrokenMusicMan
MemberYou could do that, but AIMutation doesn’t work with 5.5.3572…. This is a temporary (albeit rather complicated) solution until AIMutation is compatible with the final build of AIM. Like many, I am anxiously awaiting the next release of AIMutation, but fortunately, i can be patient, and this works for me for now. 🙂

MemberIn answer to your question, yes, people can see your expressions (if they have that option enabled in their preferences). If you really want people to see your expression, make sure your friends know you have one and tell them to enable it…
We understand you are new, but please post AIM expressions questions in a new thread. Even though it is quasi-related to the colors in the buddy list, it is not of the same nature, and really doesn’t belong in this post. Don’t forget, however, that you can also search the rest of the forum for AIM expression answers, and hopefully for any other questions that you may have

ParticipantFruityRasberry;
The post formatting options are used to emphasize a point, not for your entire post, it makes it much harder to read. Thanks. 🙂
