So randomly while online earlier this evening/morning my aim disconnected itself. Once I reconnected, the entire contents of my buddy list were deleted. All groups, and buddies, all everything! I’m starting to get a little bit frantic because even after a few hours of internet searching I can’t seem to find a way of recovering my buddy list. Is that sort of thing saved on an AIM server somewhere? Or is there a file hidden somewhere on my computer that could help me in any way? I’m running AIM version 6.5.12.1 on a Windows Vista operating system. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
Yes, Buddylists are stored server side, but, if they are deleted… then they are deleted from the server. Plain and clear.
There was a tool, not sure if it works with the new AIM versions, but it most definitely works with aim 5.x and under. You can give it a shot.
Basically, with those versions, AIM buddylists were saved in the registry, this program retrieves them from the registry, and you can save them into a txt or a blt.
it’s a worth a shot.
good luck
