Is there any way to find out (aside from asking) if a buddy is still active on AIM? The screenname still shows up on my buddy list but they have not logged on for quite some time (atleast as long as I’ve been paying attention) and I’m wondering if they even exist on AOL anymore? Is there a way to find out!? Obviously, when I click on the screen name and do “get buddy info” it says “offline” and that’s all.
Any ideas? TIA
What’s wrong from asking? The only answers I can see are “Yeah I got bored with it”, or “I switched to a new screen name”, or “I blocked you”.
Really it seems like your best bet is to just simply ask. Some programs like Trillian will say “Buddy offline since (last date seen)” but of course they have to log in once you are on Trillian or they will just say “offline” like AIM does.
sometimes when using Gaim/Pidgin you can see the users “Available Message” even when the buddy is marked as “Offline”. you can also see profiles, and “Member Since” information. i’m pretty sure this is an indication that you are either on their block list or their status is set to “invisible”. i’m sure, that if this is a bug it will be patched as soon as possible by AOL when they find out.
