MemberI used to have a yaview where you could view multiple webcams on Yahoo in one window and I deleted it and I want it back now and everybody is saying that a yaview like that doesnt exist. Does anybody know where I can find it or if there is another program similar to that?

MemberYaview does dont allow viewing of users’ cams without permission, it simply sends an anounymous request to that user. That request can also be denied. To the best of my knowledge there are no programs available that will view a cam without permission, several have been claiming to be able to do this but the ones i’ve seen are bogus or contain some type of trojan. Please be aware that there is a file claiming to be a yawiew beta3 prerelease posted on several forums that installs a file and folder very similar to the backdoor assissin trojan. It is unknown at this time if this is an actual trojan

Memberhi guys, I have just read this thread with interest and am hoping someone can help me.
Is Yaview the same thing as YaCam Viewer v3?? As a webcam owner, I am deeply concerned about any programs that may be able to view webcams without permission….and I have seen a picture of YaCam Viewer v3 and it has three modes of operation: Normal Mode, Anonymous Mode, and *Stealth Mode*……it is this last feature that disturbs me. What is Stealth Mode? Is it possible for someone to view me without my permission and without my knowledge even if I am protected by Y tunnel and have all my privacy options checked ( ie, all requests have to be passed through yahoo messenger, always ask for my permission etc etc?)
Draven, I saw where you said that no webcam accompanying program allows a user to access another users cam without permission..I REALLY hope you are correct about that but if anyone else knows otherwise or has YaCam Viewer v3, and certainly love to hear.
Thanks.

MemberCorrection: there are many programs to view yahoo webcams without permission. I wont post any names but they can be found with keyword search “yahoo cam” off edonkey (an exceellent p2p) but I would have a spy removal tool before you even install overnet unless youd like to purchase the ad-free verison.

MemberWell everything I have ever heard from people who live to view webcams, and I am not one such as they but merely have followed some discussions, there is no such thing as a program to view a cam “without” permission. There have been many advertised as having this capability but all have been frauds. I suppose I will follow the advice about checking edonkey just out of curiosity but don’t expect to find anything that works. I am trying to imagine how a piece of software would bypass a cam set to require permission for every viewer?

MemberHey, I read your post. Umm, I was wondering, if someone else was viewing your webcam without permission, wouldnt your webcam hav a green light, indicating its on?? Or does it just stay invisible?? Hopefully it doesnt, cuz than pplz cld b seein you without your permission and you hv no idea, so you cld look ugly and they are lookin at you!! Thats freaky!!

MemberWell I’ll make this a short and simple as possible…Have you ever went to a website that automatically was able to start a program like windows media player or real one player….thats because They are able to easily interface with your registry. Your registry is where the security setting for your webcam are(I wont mention specifics)…This security setting is Authenticated be yahoo servers..Now if you go to c:program filesyahoomeseenger..youll dicover a log file of ppl youve spoken with and next to thier name is there ip address. So know if you so much as say hi you can get thier ip. Now if anyone has visual studio you know you can view html code of yahoo servers and if you have a prog called dll resource viewer you can open and dll file or ocx that yahoo uses viewing how they work..Now if you were to say wirte a program to automatically transmit to the yahoo messenger server and have that program loop through a dictionary file until it finds the correct password then congrats,. you just broke yahoo security..granite this is the easiest way to do it but ot the best..I just told you guys this bcuz its a common method used…there ARE better ones…No for anyone who uses P2p programs youve probably seen on the news the FBI has recently passed new laws and are recording ppl’s internet activities..If you hack you WILL be busted eventually Thats why im not posting any more relevant answers..also please dont contact me naymore in yahoo asking for how to hack it I will turn you away..if you do your research and know anything about programming youll dicover its more than possible..also yahview and webcam buster is a joke..DONT bother with em!Also on Overnet AKa Edonkey..the FBI siezed thier record if your illegally downloaded chances are oyulll rteceive a knock on your door in a matter of time..they’re fineing 10,000 per song and 15,000 per illegally downloaded program/video

Memberi would not say you cant do it.
if someone could spend months working on a new update for a messanger program…….someone could do the same with finding out how to view cams without permission. prob someone who knows what he is doing and allot of free time.
you think if some smart guy knew how to do it…..would spread the word around? make a program for everyone to download?….hell no!!!! he would be the biggest idiot if he did. prob be busted. charged. the owners of yahoo or any other cam chats thats knew about it would fix the problem. he would be a dead man.
why not keep it to himself and his close trusted friends. see all the cams he wants without asking to view. I dunno if someone could….but from what people can do on the net….i think it could be possible.
on a cam site called spot life…or it might of been earth cam cant remember but I know lots of people that knew the chat code for private web cam chats. the people that knew how to do this said all they did was change one of the letters into a dif number. letting them watch the girls cams without them knowing.
lots of girls made private rooms for friends. they would cam for them. mostly do private shows. well…..what they did not know is…..lots of people were watching and recording without them knowing. so all those fun private cam shows they were doing for people they trusted were been secretly recorded and watched bye people they did not trust.
note- this happend way back. you cant do it anymore…but the thought that people could at one point……that is pretty scary.

I was wondering, if you were using a webcam with your friends and someone was trying to spy on your session. Wouldn’t your firewall popup and say some’s trying to spy on your webcam session? Like if you had a really powerful firewall.

MemberI cant believe what Im readin around here. The blind leading the blind. Whenever a bunch of people who dont know something get together someone will always step up and preach. Thats ok, they probably dont get a lot of chances to feel like the “smart one” in group situations. Too bad the only thing they seem to know about this subject is what they heard. I didnt read much fact, just a bunch of conspiracy theories.
Anyway, lets start with Normal, Anonymous and Stealth. We all know what normal is.
Anonymous only means that when you request to view the persons cam they get a prompt saying an anonymous user wants to view their cam instead of the screen name. Im gonna tell you straight up… anyone who uses this isnt just hardup, but theyre really really dumb, too. Think about it, who is gonna say, oh ya anonymous user, you can view me. No even picks up blocked caller ID anymore. If you cant view someone with your screen name, you certainly cant view them without it.
Stealth is when someone is already legitimately viewing your cam and then they make it look like they logged off. If you dont let them on to begin with, stealth mode isnt gonna help them. And they cant stay on if your camera disconnects. So right before you get to know yourself on cam, just disconnect and reconnect to clear out the unworthy.
Someone else asked about the cam light coming on if someone was watching. Yes, for someone to see you through your cam it would definitely have to be on. Thats basic electronics. If someone was viewin you like that, without you turning the cam on, they would have to get a trojan into your computer.
Its true, some trojans can give the hacker full access to your pc. Programs like PC Anywhere, where you can log into your computer and do what ever you want from another computer, are bascially trojans with legitimate purposes. So yes, it is possible. But, aside from possibly picking it up there, a trojan has nothing to do with the security of yahoo messenger.
Now before everyone panics, if you didnt download something from someone on yahoo or open an attachment in your yahoo mail, the chances of this scenario happening are extremely rare. Ive never heard of anyone spying on someone through their webcam without them knowing it was on.
First of all, most trojans get planted so the hacker can use the comprimised systems resources to store files or launch an attack on a website or something. And they send them out en masse, through bulk email or in cracked software releases. I doubt they would waste the time to see if you had a web cam installed, see if it was plugged in and risk exposing themselves by turning it on just to see what it was pointing at. Theyre more interested in how fast your computer is, how much memory it has, how often its on and how much room is on your hard drive. And they dont sit there surfin around opening folders with a pencil and paper. They write code for all that stuff.
Think about it, the chances of sending out a trojan in a mass emailing and having it wind up being executed on the desktop of a cute girl with a web cam are extremely low. Only someone who knows that you are a cute girl would try to pull something like that off. A friend with physical access to your computer is the only one I could see having a realistic chance. God, even then hes got to be lucky enough to catch you the couple hours a week that your actually naked on the damn thing. I could see goin trough all that trouble and then sittin around for hours and days and never seein anything. Put a cover over the camera when your not using it if your really worried. Or unplug it and let it show up as not connected. Honestly, this is all overkill but if it makes ya feel better…
If the person doesnt have physical access to your machine, then youre the last line of defense. You pretty much need to physically click the thing for it to install. Of course they will disguise it so it doesnt look like a trojan but they cant disguise it enough to get through a little common sense.
Now As far as I know, no one has found a way to plant a virus in picture file. Not in a way that it executes when you view the picture anyway. So go ahead and trade pics if ya want. I wouldnt direct connect with anyone who you wouldnt let view your cam though. ill get into that in a little bit. Trade pics through the yahoo email. Better yet, post yours on a free page and give them a link. Let them email you theirs. .jpg, .gif, .png, .bmp are safe extensions to open. Do not open anything else from a stranger. Dont open any files with any kiind of password associated with it. Dont open any .exe files from anyone, friend or foe. It couldnt be any easier to put a trojan in the cute little alien that jumps around your desktop. Trust me, hes not that cute. And dont trust it because your friend sent it. How the hell would she know if theres a trojan in it or not?
Whew. Got all that?
Theres still two more posts in this thread that were just chock full of crap, they deserve their own post. They should be asking the questions not answering them. Most of the posters in here didnt know what Stealth viewing of a cam was. One of you admitted it and asked, one of you just made something up. So whos smarter? Theres nothing wrong with not knowin something and asking about it. Hell I do it all the time. Of course my questions are usually “what time do you get off work?” and “is your boyfriend gonna be there?” but thats not really the point.
The point is, puttin the question mark after what you say instead of a period is what separates the uninformed from the misinformers. The misinformers get their answers in a separate post.
Btw, BmxBri and Draven made really good posts. Explain what you know, discuss what you heard, and ask what you wonder. Simple right?

ParticipantXrated, thank you for that excellent response. It’s great to finally see someone make a concise and educated response to these types of questions. They have been asked and answered numerous times over. Thanks for covering this one. Keep it up. 😀
