MemberHi there 😀
Would it be possible to create winks like found here http://www.freewinks.net or is it impossible to do so?
Thanks 😎

MemberFor reference,
MSN does not allow you to create your own links as Flash can be used to do malicious things. As this is a security risk, it will probably never be possible.

KeymasterThe originally had planned to allow it… in the early beta it was possible.
It’s too bad. Seems like there should be a way to implement Flash in a “safe mode” that restricts what actions are permissible.

MemberEvilSeph wrote:Flash can be used to do malicious thingsI don’t mean specifics, but what do you mean by malicious? I thought swf “flash” was just a type of video file just as jpg, gif, and bmp are all image files. Is this malicious thing the reason why there is no stand alone flash player?

ParticipantFlash “swf” files are not video files at all. Flash can be used to play videos, however it’s primary use is for developing websites, web applications and animations. Flash is a fully programmable medium, which means, just like a website or application, a flash developer could put in malicious code which could do just about anything. And FYI there actually is a stand alone Flash Player.

MemberI’m not sure if you mean this one or not as it is not really…”stand alone” but here:

ParticipantYeah, that’s the browser plugin. The standalone is generally included with Adobe’s Macromedia Flash when you buy it or trial it.
Here it is if you don’t want to download the huge trial file – SAFlashPlayer.zip

MemberI too was wondering about this.
I’d basically like to create a little swf file that will replace my avatar. From what I read here, there’s no simple way of doing this?
Clearly there’s swf files out there that work so forgive me if I’m talking junk but has anyone attempted it at all? Take a MeeWee for example. Basically a swf file, & replace the bugger. Hehe, a very basic concept I understand but I’m just wondering.
Thanks, FuZion.

MemberHave I just gone & got confused?
I’m talking about changing my avatar aren’t I… You guys are referring to Winks. The big things that animate over the whole window.
I’ll have a search & if I don’t find anything, start a new thread.
