Memberhey people, new guy here, i was just wondering if it is possible to find out if 2 different people on my list are actually the same person, maybe through ip address or something, i have wondered this for a while now but to avoid straight out asking them and possibly upsetting either if they arent i wanted to know if i could find out any other way, even through email would be handy, ive never seen them online at the same time and when i try to organize them to be online together some strange circumstance comes up, we all use hotmail accounts also.

MemberYou could check the First and Last names on both Hotmail accounts and check out their MSN profiles.

KeymasterIf you send files there is a direct connection between you and him/her.
Try to send both of them a file and while sending check your connections and see if they have the same IP-address.January 5, 2003 at 4:51 pm #98810OpTiMiSt
Memberbytheway dear MAGISTYK….i dont think that people write thier profiles and names same or real names…..but i agree with DENNI….
the way that we can find him/her ..is ip address….
u can find her/his ip easily here…
startruncommand then c:windowsdesktop> netstat
find her/his ip then PING it…
if thier ip`s are same so its understood that they are one not two persons……:cool:January 6, 2003 at 5:05 pm #98809twistedmetal
MemberQuote:quote:startruncommand then c:windowsdesktop> netstatNice! This way is much better than the plain run>netstat. This also keeps the DOS window open which is even better! TY for the info.

Memberok, here another question, is there a way to find out the location of someone you are chatting to, not there actual address but just maybe the city they are in ?.

KeymasterTry an nslookup of their IP-adres, sometimes a provider hides location information about it. For example @home here in the netherlands, their hostnames are [computername].[city].[province].home.nl

KeymasterNot really. If you know their IP address you can do a reverse IP lookup to find out who the IP is registered to, but they are always registered to an institution, business or (most frequently) an ISP. For example, most AOL IP addresses will show as coming from Virginia, regardless of where in the country (or world) the actual user is from.

MemberLike Jeff said, the ISP don’t give out the information about the city, but overall you can atleast trace the country with IP.
Check this http://www.checkdomain.com (give in the IP address and it will show you the registrar).
Its not easy to trace until the IP adderss is not owned by a company or university or institution, more worse is the case for Europe, where most IP don’t even point to particular country. Which are registed by RIPE-Reseaux IP Europeens (Réseau IP Européen)
There is a software, to trace the emails EmailTrakerPro, which country they are comming from, check this. http://www.visualware.com/emailtrackerpro/index.html
