MemberAlright, so I was playing around with AIM on my cell phone. Now, I can not sign my primary SN off of AOL. When I sign off the computer, I still show as online. So I thought maybe my phone was signed on. I sent the “sign off” txt message through AOL and it signed me off, so it replied. Yet, I’m still online. with an away message that says “I am no responding to messages right now.”
Ok, fine, I left my name signed on at another computer. Then how come my profile is still loading on that SN? This is the only computer that has that profile on it. So I turn off the computer, AND THE PROFILE IS STILL LOADING ONTO THAT ONLINE SN. One word…HOW?!

MemberCan anyone confirm this? I always was under the impression that AIM Profiles are stored on individual computers. I know they recently ported the buddy lists to the servers, but I didn’t realize the profiles went with them..it seems as if I sign on my friend’s screen name here, he has no profile.

Yes they do, the profile is sent when you signon or update your profile.

MemberAlright, well, assuming this is all true. I guess the question becomes:
Is there anyway to boot all signed on instances of my name? The fact that that away message is coming up as soon as I sign off my primary computer, makes me think my name isn’t really signed in anywhere else (even though its telling me it is, 3 places actually)

Booting is against the AOL ToS, so that would make it illegal….And BigBlueBall doesn’t support illegal activities.
