Is it possible for someone to be able to retrieve my information for messenger? How would I know? I have had some weird things happening lately and it started after talking to someone on there. I have had a few people that I normally send im’s to that say they have not received them and I do not receive from them. I started saving my message archives and take a look there. I have also received im’s from people I do not know. I have changed my password a few times. Thanks for any help.

October 13, 2006 at 10:20 pm #153321OreoMemberLike the PP…changing your password is a good idea…you may want to scan for trojans and/or viruses as well…then change your password to be doubly sure no one is watching what you type. Also, make sure not to accept links or programs from people you do not know (and sometimes from people you know) unless you you know EXACTLY what they are. Good luck 🙂

Seems likely you’ve Keylogger installed in your computer.
Download keylogger killer.
IF you’ve keylogger installed in your system, doesn’t matter how many times you change your password, they’ll know the new password

October 14, 2006 at 10:29 pm #153331srt98MemberSorry for the confusion here. I have had yahoo for quit a while. This just started happening. I rarley every received im’s from people that I do not know until lately. Yes sometimes when I get an im the person will say things that make it look like they know me. Maybe just the way they word something. The stranger thing is that people are not always getting my im’s and I do not always receive them. Only remember that happening maybe a couple of times before this. What is the best program to use for a keylogger? I have norton. Just weird that it started happening after chatting with someone for a few weeks then stop chatting (ended up not being interested). Did not want to give out to much detail. If you need to know anything else let me know? Thanks for your help

October 21, 2006 at 12:47 pm #153322DermotParticipantAll valuble input is appreciated, as much as you would like to know about the problem you wont unless your at the pc itself.
it could be a keylogger or it could just be a yahoo! issue, why both inputs are both valued.
srt98, yahoo has a bug which lets you show coming on and off line on others messengers and they will pm you to ask how you’re doing it, and may even try adding you like what may have happened to oreo.
The fact is it could be a number of things that could be causing your issue why when asking questions its best to give as much information about your problem as possible.
Virii and keyloggers are out there and scare or not it is a possibility you could have been infected by one, to take precautions in running a program to check for some is no harm whatsoever and will not effect your day to day use of your computer.
I hope you get your issue sorted srt98 and feel free to ask anymore questions in future as we have a good lot of helpful people here that will be eagar to help.
🙂
October 21, 2006 at 10:24 pm #153320Jeff HesterKeymasterfor me, Yahoo acks weird when my computer get really fragmented. I now defrag my computer whenever odd thing happen with yahoo.
Its pretty good at fixing things, unless the problem is a bug or someone is hacking.Did you do a virus check?
In a hacker situation if you got dsl or cable modem just unplug them for a minute then plug it back in, It will change you IP address
If all else fails You can always make a new ID!
