MemberCan someone add you to their contact list and I not receive the new contact permission form that lets me either Allow & add to my messenger list, or just allow them, or deny them totally? I had someone add me to their contact list and I never got the permissions form. How did they do that?

MemberYes there are ways that it can be done. Some of the stuff the children run now can add you without you knowing, or in some case’s send you an add request that you can deny but it will still add you to their list. There is also no fix for this. Easiest way to deal with it , with them adding you without you knowing, is to set up your stealth settings in messenger when you sign on to only allow the people that are on your buddylist to see you. This can be done in the new messenger 6.0 builds by changing you status to invisible to everyone, then select a contact group on your buddylist, right click and select stealth settings. For each group if you have more than one, just select ( The selected contacts see me as online ). Hope this helps!

MemberAnd one more thing, what is it that children have that they are running that is so much more advanced and different from my yahoo messenger?

MemberThere are alot more advanced programs out there that can get into yahoo and do things in many different ways that messenger can’t. Never believe messenger is as secure as you would hope it would be. Just because messenger doesnt warn you doesn’t meen it isn’t being done.

MemberA person can add others to their list without the permission or knowledge of the other people by using a chat client other than yahoo.
If I find out that someone has added me to their list without my approval, I remove myself from their list and if I dont want them to see me again, I can place them on ignore.

KeymasterNot only ignoring a user does it stop you from receiving messages from them, but it also makes you “Invisible” to the ignored user. Basically, if you suspect someone has you added, without permission. Just stick them on ignore. This will automatically, by default, make you invisible to them. They won’t know you are online or read, if any status messages you have.
