MemberTonight I decided to clean up my buddy list. I had many buddies who I did not talk to or even know who they were, so I figured I would just delete my buddy list and start fresh by re-adding the buddies I do talk to. So, I deleted my buddy list, and now when I try to re-add my buddies, I receive an error message that says: “One or more of the additions or modifications could not be saved.” I’m very annoyed right now and I do not know what to do. Will I eventually be able to add buddies to my buddy list again? Please help!!

MemberThat message usually comes up when you entered too long of a screen name or any thing besides a number/letter, and next time save your buddy list before you delete it, reinstall AIM then it should work.

ParticipantI would recommend just waiting a little while before trying to redo your list. such a major change to your buddylist might take a while for the AIM servers to process… try rebuilding your list tomorrow sometime, it will probably work then.
but, i’d agree with SlapShot in that you should really make sure you have a backup of your buddylist before you all-out delete it.

Participantyeah, it’s most likely just because you made such a massive change (like removing all your buddies) that your list is unresponsive at the moment.

Memberyes, the could be it, but it has been this way since yesterday evening. when is it going to become responsive again? for now, i made an alternate screen name until my other one allows me to add buddies again..that’s if it ever does.

Were you able to load your buddylist on your alternate screename? If you weren’t, then it’s what Tigerblade said, and your buddylist is just too massive too add at once.MidnightLament21 wrote:when is it going to become responsive again?
Wait another day or so.July 7, 2005 at 9:21 pm #125418MidnightLament21
Memberyes, i was able to load my buddy list on my alternate screen name. also, i had my friend sign onto my screen name (the one with the issue) at his house and he could not add any buddies either. so, it’s not my software that is the issue. hmm..

Participantit wouldnt be your software, it would be the AIM servers’s issue. most problems like this sort themselves out, all they need is time. if it’s been a day already, then apparently it needs more time than that… just be patient, as hard as that may be. in the meantime, just IM buddies individually if need be :-/

Memberyeah, i posted this problem on a few other forums, and i got 0% help.
glad to know this isnt just happening to me.
my problem is, a buddy list will load like normal, then just disappear with only the groups remaining.

MemberI’ve had the same problem for about a week and a half now. It’s not just my software as I’ve tried a couple different computers with the same result. Please help!
