My yahoo messenger stopped working few months back…tried unstalled/reinstalled many times, but didn’t help. All selections in preferences are greyed out except Connection. HELP!
I’ll bump this back up again as noone has addressed it as yet:p
heres my thoughts .
Since you don’t have the options sounds like its a bad install and you said you un/re but was it a told uninstall ? You will find that going thru the uninstall process thru add/remove doesnt actually TOTALLY remove yahoo.
Sure, first off uninstall from add/remove but do the option of repair first when prompted too. If that fails then repeat the process but when prompted go thru the Custom option and select ALL in each of the windows that will appear.
After this process head to c:Program folders find Yahoo folder that will still be there and DELETE that entire folder.
*CAUTION*
Then and this is only If you are comfy with making changes to the registry.
Run and type in “regedit” without “” and click OK .
In the folder list on the left navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER and click the + to expand the folders. Locate the Software folder and click the + again.
Scroll down to the folder Yahoo and highlight the folder in the left pane and hit delete. you will get a popup with a warning ” You are about to remove…” clcik yes IF and only IF that is the Yahoo folder
( be 100% sure you highlighted that folder)
Then redownload yahoo again and go thru the reinstalling process and with any luck you’ll get it all working again.
Hope this helps
May want to check for another download site not all sites have good downloads. If I have a problem with a download and have to uninstall i never install in the same site I went before. good luck
