Running Ad-ware and Spybot does not fix it. I believe that Spybot created the problem. The problem happened immediately after I ran Spybot. But, I have done a restore from Spybot and it did not fix the problem.
ctr-alt-del and see wat programs are running, there mayb be some uve never heard of. if there are, search google for them and see wat comes up
Try this, if you have spybot, Open up spybot and turn off all immunizations. Including the Internet one, and any others it might possibly have, close spybot, then try completly closing and restarting AIM.
I’m having the same problem…anyone figure out what’s causing this/how to fix it. My company just installed spybot blocking software right b4 it started happening, so it must be related to this.

Hi to everyone who have been trying to help me solve the ‘unable to type in the AIM instant message box’ problem. Up to now I have not been able to solve the problem. But I have discovered that I can use AIM Express okay and still retain my AIM buddy list as normal. And so I will be using that from now on. Thanks again to all for all your help. the orginal problem- I couldnt type inside my aim box, every time I went to type a letter it would ding ding ding. (it made that sound) well. I had mysearchbar. THATS WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. mysearch with spybot will not work. you do not need to uninstall spybot, you need to uninstall mysearchbar.
heres what to do
go to start, settings, and control panel. go to add/remove programs. and look for mysearchbar. click to remove ALL. reboot computer, and try aim. ITS FIXED!!!
