MemberHi all!
I recently went wireless network with a Linksys WRT54G router. Well what is happening is when I click ACTIVITIES and it says CONTACTING SERVICE it never connects!
Now I know that it’s not the router that’s causing it because I am hardwired to the router and was able to connect before.
Where the problem came about is when I updated the version of Norton Antivirus which was about 2002 with the 2005 version that has the 90 day trial on it. Since I downloaded this version 8.0.5.14 that comes with the router.
What i’m wondering is there anyway to configure the anti-virum/internet protection so that I will be able to connect on the ACTIVITIES button and use features such as PHOTO SWAP again?
Btw… I am using XP PROFESSIONAL.
Thanks in advance!!!

MemberDo you have the internet security suite or just the antivirus? Don’t think there is a big problem with just the norton antivirus and msn messenger. Its usually the norton firewall that causes the most problems. Dumb question to clarify. You said you was able to connect before. Was it before you got the new router or could you connect with the new router but after you installed the new norton you couldn’t?

MemberGot a connection with the new router. I hadn’t installed the Norton at the time I got a connection and was able to use the photo swap in conversation.
After I installed the Norton 2005 i’ve been getting the CONTACTING SERVICE without it ever connecting.
It’s the INTERNET SECURITY SUITE

MemberIts the firewall in the internet security suite if I am not mistaken. Norton is a pain in the but. I think msn messenger has the most problems with the norton than with any other software. Make sure msn messenger is fully allowed. Here is something http://messenger.msn.com/Help/Issues.aspx. You could look through the norton logs and try to find out what exactly it is blocking. Here is a google group search and another . Its big problem. Most people I know just trashed it cause of the hassle lol. I would contact norton to find out what exactly it blocks. This problem with norton and msn messenger has been around for awhile. Sorry I couldn’t give you detailed info on how to fix it but hope it helps.
