Okay, I only have 13 ppl on my buddy list and when I try to add someone it gives me the error “Your request to add a contact has taken longer than expected”. I’ve tried doing a full un-install then re-installing it. I’ve also un-installed it then went into my c:documentsandsettingapplicationdata and deleted the yahoo folder to make sure it was completely gone and installed it. all my settings are correct and everything else works on yahoo…including deleting buddies. I also tried to go through my contacts list and at them there and the same error comes up there too.it still won’t let me add anyone to my buddy list ……SOMEONE HELP!!!
I dont have a solution to your problem, but I am having a similar problem trying to add/edit contacts in Messenger, where I get an error message about contacting the server…. I’ve noticed that if I uninstall v6.0, and reinstall v5.6, everything seems to be fine. But v6.0 wont allow me to add/edit contacts.
I have contacted Yahoo’s “help”, and they haven’t helped at all.
I hope someone replies to our problems with brilliant suggestions, ’cause I’m stumped.

i have the same problem too, but I don’t know how to fix it so I just deleted the yahoo messenger and re-dowloaded again and it actually works, so now I can finally add people to my list like before.
