I have tried for the last year to change or delete my picture on my profile .
Every time I try I get taken to yahoo photo’s or now to a page that says
my yahoo pictures have been locked for migration is there any way to remove that picture or am I stuck with it?I have tried different computers and different internet service providers with no luck at all
September 10, 2007 at 9:44 pm #164095Doris KenneyParticipantAre you trying to change a picture associated with your YH ID? Such as the avatar it shows when you’re in YH games? Or are you trying to change the display picture on YH messenger?
FOR YH MESSENGER: Open YH Messenger and on the menu bar at the top go to Messenger/My Display Picture. You need to select whether to show your picture/avatar or not. Then, choose to use a picture and browse. You should be browsing your computer for the image. I’ve never had it redirect me to YH photos. If you prefer an avatar, simply choose to use avatars then customize. To delete an image you go to the same location on the menu but instead of browsing your computer for an image you highlight the picture shown and then click delete.
FOR YH360: Open your 360 page and choose Edit Personal Pictures above your display image. You can then upload from your computer and select which picture is the default one. You can delete them as well from this page.
YH photos is closing down. An account becomes locked for migration when you tell them where to transfer your photos such as Flicker, Photobucket etc. Until the transfer is completed the account remains locked and you cannot access them. Mine transferred within a day or so, but as the end of YH photos nears and more people are making the switch I assume it may take longer. If you don’t move your photos, they will be deleted.
In order to help you further, I’ll need to know where you’re trying to make this change. If it’s YH Messenger can you tell me what version you’re using?

September 12, 2007 at 1:35 am #164093bbdoll224MemberMine is doing the exact same thing. I have asked for help many ways and in many forums with no luck. I decided to try BIGBLUEBALL and am still having trouble. Can anybody help?
September 12, 2007 at 2:14 am #164096Doris KenneyParticipantI need to know WHERE you are trying to change the display picture. There are a number of pictures that can link to your “profile”…in YH Messenger, YH 360 and for example your games avatar.
To find your YH version, on the main menu of YH Messenger click on Help/About Yahoo Messenger. You should see a version number like this 8.1.0.421 I’ll need to know the version number of YH messenger and also to confirm you are indeed trying to change the display picture your contact see when you are in a text chat with them and not some other picture.

Unless you have a reason you don’t wish to, I’d suggest updating to the most recent version. Recent updates have addressed important security issues & you should really consider doing it. But that’s not the source of your problem.
When someone tries to display your profile from a chat, they are directed to your YH360. So, o to your 360 page & choose My Page from the menu at the top.
I assume, on the right hand side of the page, under Share Photos, you had installed YH photo albums? And you’re right, to use them you had to use the Yahoo Photo Tool. With the closing of YH Photos, you should have received an email asking where you wanted to transfer your pictures. If you moved them to Flicker, you’ll still be able to display them on your 360. Your photo account will be locked for migration until the transfer is complete. After that you’ll need to go into your 360, take the YH Photo album off and display a new Photostream from Flicker.
If you are referring to the photo displayed on the top LEFT hand side of the YH360 page (your Personal Photo), those are photos you’ve uploaded from your computer. You would need to click on Edit Personal Photos to access the photos page. You can have a maximum of 4 uploaded pictures. If you want to remove one you simply tick the radio button to delete it, you can also choose which photo shows as the default larger image. These are not associated with your Yahoo Photos account and do not require Yahoo Photo Tool to change. They are simply photos from your hard drive on your computer, uploaded to your profile. I was able to delete one and then upload it again with no problem at all.
I hope this helps you out. I’m guessing what you’re not able to change just now is the Share Photos section. As the closing of YH Photos draws very near, I’m sure there are LOTS of people switching to other photo storage & I’m sure it’s taking a bit of time for them to accomplish. If you don’t choose where to send them, you will lose them in the next few days. If you’ve not already done so, access your YH Photos account & tell them to transfer to whichever location you prefer (but Flicker is the one that will still be able to work with 360 for now).
Please let me know if this solved it for you, or at least if it clears up the confusion over why it’s not working. You SHOULD be able to change Personal Photos, but probably not Share Pphotos unless you already have Flicker up and running.

after then they will be deleting everybodies profiles pics.
September 11, 2012 at 12:15 am #164098stormystevensMemberHi Doris,
I tried and tried and tried this. It won’t change. It doesn’t give me the option to upload a new picture. I went to my profile page and it’s the same for the 360 page. Can you help?

Yes it is true. Yahoo don’t let anyone change the pic.

The post you were replying to was nearly 5 years old and Yahoo has changed a lot since then, i suggest you open your own thread with your new problem as any solution here will not work in todays yahoo profile system.
Thank you!
October 18, 2012 at 7:08 pm #164100OzoneMemberUnder my edit profile options, when I click to change profile picture it gives me the option of uploading photo, linking to Facebook, or no photo. When I try to upload, it shows me my photos but does nothing when I choose one. So, really the question is,
