I have a problem that has been driving me nuts for months now!
I cannot connect to any Yahoo chat rooms via Yahoo Messenger. I can go in by way of my browser and get into any of the rooms, however, I am on dial-up and the browser route is very clumsy and slow!
I was always able to get into the chat rooms via Messenger and then one day .. nothing. All I get is a 30 or 40 second wait and then a message that it took longer to connect than expected and to try again later. I am able to download the chat room lists OK but simply cannot connect!
Windows XP Home, 56k dial-up.
I have disabled my virus protector, my firewall, and anything else that I can imagine might be interfering. I have un-installed and re-downloaded messenger .. I even went into the registry and removed anything I could find referring to Yahoo and Yahoo Messenger … all to no avail.
Does ANYONE have any suggestions??
Oh yeah .. one more thing … My wife’s computer .. same provider, using the same connection protocols (my account) running windows XP and she has no trouble at all!
Confused In Canada 🙁
I have had the same problem with yahoo messenger, and I have gotten the same message, I think it is just yahoo, have you tried connecting through Java?
Have you checked your proxy settings?
I had a similar problem a few months back… and it all boiled down to an accidentally altered proxy setting…
