well… as i tried using IE (i use Firefox almost exclusively, IE just for testing purposes), I noticed something. Instead of immediately logging in, I viewed a topic in the AIM forum, then did the Add Reply button. I got an error message saying I wasnt logged in, or didnt have permission. The screen unregistered guests get. That page has a log-in box, so I tried logging in. Then it goes to a “thanks for logging in” page, then it took me back to the error message saying i didnt have permission. so… that’s not good. the regular login form didnt work either (at the top of the screen)
i’m going to try it in Firefox after posting this. I’ll log out, do the same thing, then hopefully I can get back in to edit this.
January 16, 2006 at 7:29 am #136315TigerbladeParticipantit works just fine in Firefox. I logged out, viewed the post, managed to log in just fine, no problems.
January 16, 2006 at 3:59 pm #136325YahooliganMemberI’m signed in with Internet Explorer, and just tried the “add reply” button and it worked perfectly. Must be a I.O. error (Idiot Operator). :woot:
January 16, 2006 at 4:01 pm #136313Jeff HesterKeymasterCan any other IE users replicate this problem?

I tried what you said. I logged out. I viewed this very topic. I clicked the Add Reply button. I got the “You’re not logged in” message. I logged in. It came to this “Reply to Thread” screen (whatever a “thread” is). I typed this most excellent reply, irrefutably proving that, indeed, it is a personal problem. Sorry, Tiger.
January 16, 2006 at 5:04 pm #136317TigerbladeParticipantwell it shouldn’t be a cookies problem, as i have no problems logging in to any other sites…. i cant think of any other reasons. is anyone else experiencing this? i can’t be the only one…
January 16, 2006 at 8:50 pm #136319AwesomeSauceParticipantEver since the forums were updated, I’ve been having login problems too. Just problems with the login form at the top though. I’ll enter my name and password, the it gives me the “Thank you for logging in” screen, and then it redirects back to the forum home and it shows the login form as if I’m not already logged in, so I can’t see the New Posts button… but if I go to a forum topic, then it will work and I can reply.
Strange. :/
January 17, 2006 at 1:15 am #136322SpikeMemberDunno if this helps or not, but I use Maxthon regularly (*grumbles* stupid firefox), and I haven’t had to login for months, it’s always kept me logged in, even after the upgrade. I would test it in IE for you, but I don’t think my IE even works, anymore. This is the next best thing, though, an IE Shell browser.
And, as a side note…Tigerblade, if you look at the clues, you can see that I think you and I both already know who Yahooligan is. 🙂

What web browser/OS are you running?
January 17, 2006 at 2:52 am #136320AwesomeSauceParticipantLike Spike, I use Maxthon. Curiously, as Spike said, these problems are not happening for him though.
Also, I can’t change the postbit style to “Legacy”… I’m stuck with the user info on top of posts. 🙁

Aha! Another Legacy Postbit user! *goes to make up a petition*.This may sound strange, but I can’t logout. I was going to retest the login problem, and I can’t logout at all. As many times as I try to refresh, clear the cookies, etc, it keeps me logged in. I didn’t know you guys liked me that much! 😮
January 23, 2006 at 2:23 am #136324SpikeMemberOkay. I’m having the problem described here. I can’t login with the form at the top of the page with Maxthon.
I don’t want any crap about switching browsers, either, this is the Internet, and I have the freedom to use whichever browser I want. Viewing this site shouldn’t be a problem, but it is. I’m going to go try logging in using a different form and see if that helps at all.
Edit: Okay, that was wierd. It said I wasn’t logged in at the homepage, but when I went to browse a forum, it logged me in. Interesting. At least I can still use my Maxthon (hopefully it’ll keep me logged in permanently now)
January 23, 2006 at 2:56 am #136321AwesomeSauceParticipantYup Spike, the same thing happens to me. It doesn’t appear that I am logged in on the forum homepage, but once I click on a topic or view a forum, then I am logged in.
Oh well. I’ve pretty much made a permanent switch to Firefox for an unrelated reason anyway.
