hey ya’ll. i have been using yahoo messenger for 3 years now under the same screen name. well today i decided to make a new one. i made it on a seperate account and with my new name i cannot see any text in chatrooms except for my own. i have tried the “enable scripting” thing in IE. i have also tried different versions of y messenger and changing my ignore options.
i have no problems instant messenging, my problem is just in chatrooms. if i log into my old screen name i don’t have any problems. i even tried making a second new name just to see what happens and i still can’t see chatroom text. help 🙁

We’ve been testing this out little by little, and have found that you CAN log into chat, and you CAN get into a room, and you CAN even hear people on the mic, but you CANNOT see type in the room.
However, the next evening when they logged into the new name again, all was fine and you could then see text again.
So it could just be a yahoo thing that is taking steps to see if you are making a new name, or if you are just trying to make bots.
I have not been able to pin point an exact waiting period, and it doesn’t seem to happen to everyone, but out of the 6 people who all created names at the same time, only 1 could see type in the room.

But, for the meanwhile, try out something like, youtring .com it just gave me multiple things, like online tv, free PC to pc calling apart from social networking. I just loved that whole idea of it.
