Im using a skin for my messenger 7 Beta which also works with 6.0. I love the skin, but when ever someone comes on line the little notifier box comes up and the text is black or too dark. Is there any way to change this? Can i edit the xml file?
I would post all the code from the xml file but I dont feel right doing that to the author of the skin.
Hi Deftry.
There is a way to fix this. The problem is that the color of the notifier will match the color of the skins’ background. So you can change it but it will change alot of the skin with it. If you still want to change it, open the XML and fine the line that reads
It will be close to the top. Just change the 000000 hex code to something else (I am assuming your skin is black so it has a 000000 code it could be different).
Then save the XML file go to your messenger and pick ANOTHER skin. Then select the skin you just altered to view the changes.
Thanks Toebee
You were correct man, it changed a lot of the skin with it so Ill just leave it be. Too bad I cant just change the text in the notifier box itself.
Thanks again.
Yeah I know… another one of Yahoo’s little quirks. You will notice alot of the text in the preference area is unreadable also.
There is one way around it. Since the text is windows defined some Windowblinds and or Style XP themes will change it. But Windowblinds somtimes does not work well with Yahoo…
Either way your kinda stuck. Thats why my skins never have a black background…
I get that a lot with my skin…I think on messenger 7 beta you can change it (not 100% I haven’t checked it for a while)…so hopefully if the full release of 7 still has it I’ll update my skin.
