I stopped using Trillian a few weeks ago because no one could see my “away” status. I’d come home from being out all day and have 5 messages on my screen and people thinking I’m ignoring them.
Anyone know why it won’t stay set to away?
I tried GAIM after that but it seems I am always getting a message that one of the programs (AIM or MSN usually) has been disconnected and I am always getting booted out of chats.

I truley don’t know people have such problems with Trillian. I’ve been using it for about 2 years and have not had a problem, except for the connecting to Y! which I think everyone had.
The only thing I can think of is shut down Trillian when you’re not around and start it up when your ready to use it again.
Sorry I can’t be of more assistance. 😀
As an alternate to Trillian, I have many frriends who swear by Easy Message. It’s a super small download (around 250KB) and is bear bones when It comes to features. But if you just want to talk to friends or share files, it’s a great program.
theres 2 ways to go away…just for one messenger like AIM or “globally away” maybe you should try going just away on the messenger you use instead of globally away? and if you go just on the messenger maybe you could try going globally away? you can check yourself if this works by simply going on AIM and trillian at the same time, and then checking to see if the away message works…and if it still doesnt work how about re installing trillian? reinstalling sometimes cures major problems… if NONE of that works I guess you just have to get off trillian when your away…as superchase125 said

Make sure your ‘away’ link is actually setting you to away, Trillian allows you to set the link to be ‘back’ too, so maybe you just don’t have your away link set correctly? Prefs > Events > Away Messages > Edit > Advanced. Make sure it is actually setting you do “Away.”
