So since yahoo rolled out the new severs every chatroom i have been in is flooded with bots. about a 10:1 ratio from bots to human chatters. anyone have any clue when captcha word verification is going to be out? it’s a pain in the rear to get into rooms now cause every one of them is filled to the brim with bots…
August 19, 2007 at 3:45 am #163513imported_Ven0mMemberNope, it was there early on on the alphacs servers, but Yahoo removed it.
August 19, 2007 at 7:14 am #163518mfenechMemberVenom – do you think that means they scrapped the Captcha idea, or that they just haven’t implemented it yet?
August 19, 2007 at 2:29 pm #163509mindfrayMemberIt would be a bad idea to not use the word verifcation. It seems the bot makers decided to put enough bots in to bring the rooms up to 60 in a section of chat that only had up to 7. so thats 60 rooms atleast on one section of yahoo chat filled to the brim with bots. it seems after the update more bots than ever have been coming into chat rooms.
August 19, 2007 at 5:13 pm #163514imported_Ven0mMemberIt’d be more effective for the time being to remove protos below YMSG14 or YMSG15.
There’s some knowledgeable individuals posting on the Yahoo! Messenger Blog giving Yahoo technical ideas on how to fix the problems. 🙂
August 20, 2007 at 7:24 pm #163510mindfrayMemberThese bots are getting out of hand. every single chatroom i go into is filled to the brim with bots. yahoo is making a mistake by not using the word verification. its hard getting into the room you want cause it has 45 bots into it. there are so many bots it almost seems like an attack against yahoo 😐
August 27, 2007 at 12:56 pm #163519z_a_1998MemberYea and do you think yahoo is reading what is posted in the blog before they delete the post? or are they just deleting them because of who posted them.I know I have posted in there blog and not one of my post is there 2 hours after it was posted.I don’t think yahoo wants help,If they did it would be fixed by now.
August 27, 2007 at 7:46 pm #163515imported_Ven0mMemberOr perhaps Yahoo allows the bots to be in the rooms, because they get paid off by the bot owners? Sure, it sounds far fetched, but it’s possible.
About the blog, users post comments, including those who wish to help, and Yahoo deletes the comments if they’re off-topic to what the subject pertains to.

For long it will remain is questionable
August 30, 2007 at 2:16 am #163512SavannahMemberCaptcha (what a stupid name… I hate typing it :P) is in effect as of right now. I have to say, it’s one thing Yahoo has done right where chat is concerned. Why didn’t they do this, though, before they went and hacked the word limit? Anyway, so far, so good…
August 30, 2007 at 3:32 am #163517imported_Ven0mMemberI doubt it’ll be effective too long. It’s only a matter of time somebody finds a way around it. =(
August 30, 2007 at 3:33 pm #163508NettiMemberI don’t think it’s going to be as easy to get around it as people think.
Yahoo has had this in place in regards to creating a name and typing in this code.
However, there hasn’t been one person who made bot makers could get around this code. Now anyone that makes bots has to enter a code for each bot they make.
So, in my opinion if no one has found a way around it in the last 2 years, I can’t see someone getting around it, in the next couple days.
Of course this is only my opinion.
August 30, 2007 at 7:04 pm #163516imported_Ven0mMemberI already know some users who can get around the captcha *somewhat*, while I know somebody else who knows how to bypass it completely (and he’s not telling anyone how either).
It’s only a matter of time before somebody figures it out.
