cdrom bad block

I checked my computers error log and it said this : Cdrom The device, DeviceCdRom0, has a bad block.

I am also getting an error message from internet explorer saying that it can’t load the manufactures prefs..

Anyone have any idea or where I could go to resolve these issues?

A quick fix could be as easy as a bios upgrade. Go to the manufacture’s web site and see if the have a bios upgrade.

I think this means that the cd is just bad. Have your tried cleaning the disc? A dirty disc could also create an error like this.
You could also try updating you cd-rom’s firmware.
About the internet explorer issue, dont know :confused:

Lemo, when I go to the website and try to use the bios update it says I do not need it.

Prince, exactly how would I update the cd firmware? To be honest I’m not exactly sure what u mean by firmware. Or where to find my cd firmware. If you don’t mind giving me a tad more help I would appreciate it very much.

to find more info about it. The most important is that you download it so go to this page http://www.firmware.fr.st/ to find the firmware of your drive, it’s an update kind of thing, it will only do good to your drive.

You were right about the cd being bad. I talked to the instant support for my computer. And after much questioning on my part they told me that it is indeed a bad block and Not a bad cd rom( thank goodness) . Also they sent me a link for updated firmware( which I also had to question) seems they had a little trouble finding out what kind of cd rom I have. After much guessing on their part and my chewing them out we finally got to the bottom of it. So now I can get the correct firmware.
